Luis Suarez pwned by the Lizards and is Staying, and has said sorry to BR and teammates

i don't know ... it feels a bit like a dangerous game we are playing . Are we still fully in control ? Time will tell and if we are then fine . But if we end up selling him and not getting top quality in then someone should get their arse kicked because it's another window fucked .

I doubt Suarez would have gone public if they were confident of the release clause. We're not selling and he's throwing his toys out the pram.

Besides, he's not even the best Luis to ever play for us anyway.

Liverpool are facing a new reality. They are finding out what life is like outside of the elite. Top players leaving is symptomatic of that.

Yep.

indeed , You can survive maybe one or two season outside the top 4 but not four where your top finish has been 6th . It wrecks my head that it had to be us that fell away and getting back without bucket loads of cash will be so hard .

He's not going to have as good a season as the one he's just had, so his value's high, so sell now.
In 12 months time he'll only have 2 years left on his contract, so his value will be lower, so sell now.
He clearly doesn't want to be here and will likely have a corrosive effect on the club for another 12 months, so sell now.
We'll only end up going through all of this again in 12 months time, so sell now.

I like the boldness, but let's face it, it's not a rational thing with you, is it? You don't like him and want him gone. Fair enough, absolutely.

But selling him to the only interested bidder, Arsenal, is a much much more nuanced financial case than you make out. Personally I'd stick to that original assessment. If we get a big bid from them, soon enough to get at least some kind of replacement in, fine, I think that's just about worth the risk of letting him go. If not, then I think we should probably risk keeping him.

I still don't get this Arsenal thing. He'd be moving there just for the sake of moving. He might as well go to Celtic if he wants CL footy. Sell him, but I can't be arsed looking at his grid or listening to Arsenal fans, so sell him abroad.

Which of the 4 points I outlined aren't reflective of reality?

Besides Peekay, why are people "upset" about this?

Hasn't he been making exactly the same comments as these to the Uruguayan press all summer long?

There's nothing new in what he said here, it's merely confirmation from him that he's still a cunt.

I think the carefully constructed walls of denial some people have built up to excuse/approve of his behavior have been shattered by an unequivocal confirmation that he does not give a single solitary fuck about the club. There can be no complaints about the source, the context or twisted translations. He has timed this press release for maximum damage and even the most blinkered of his apologists cannot deny the interests of Liverpool and the interests of Suarez are not compatible.

It is comforting to see how pathetically desperate he has become though. Openly courting the media he despises to do his dirty work, threatening legal action he knows he hasno hope of winning, and best of all its almost like a public plea for sympathy. Poor little Luis vs big bad Liverpool, he has clearly forgotten that most non Liverpool fans already despise him and will see this as the cynical actions of a mercenary.

Tom Werners in tray for the morning should look like this
1. Report Arsenal to the premier league for tapping up our player
2. Telephone Arsenal, inform them and tell them if they come up with 55 million by Saturday we will drop the complaint and they can have the prick
3. Telephone Madrid/Bayern/PSG etc and let them know they can have him for 50 million if they can come up with the money by Friday

Everybody knew about this 40m clause. It wasn't tapping up. It was in the papers for months.

it's such a pity we don't have some pulling power because even if we got just 40m for him , still have 20 ....then that could have been 60m to spend on 2 or 3 players . We probably would have been in a much better position . But like i said , the reality is we'd probably struggle to get some decent players in and be left with the money burning a hole in our pockets or paying for the Boston Globe purchase .

They were speculating about it but Arsenal can probably hide behind that as Ross mentioned.

We'll probably get a low 30 millish bid from a club outside the PL now. Although most of the top clubs proably dont want him anywhere near their team.

Also, he's worth much more than 50 fucking million, if Bale is worth 100. If we let him go to the Arse for 50 million we're gonna look like a band of dickheads. Again.

Well I think all of them are reasonable but also questionable.

But that's not the point. The point is that selling to Arsenal could potentially have such a huge effect on our finances and also our position relative to theirs that it's actually hard to estimate the downside risk.

It could be as high as £120m, possibly more. A drop of even £20m in value is trivial by comparison.

Good post.

Suarez is a coward for waiting until everyone have travelled to Oslo before doing this interview. Sums him up the cunt.

Two things that could counter that though:

- We'd have 50M to spend on improving the side. Hardly chump change. That;s two world class players Peter.
- Everyone's making the assumption Suarez, if he stays, would repeat last season's performances. I highly doubt he would, especially given how much he doesn't want to be here.

The reasons for selling completely outweigh the reasons for keeping.

there's no way suarez will play well if he stays now. it's no longer a 'modric situation'. he's having a full on meltdown cos he hasn't got his own way.

Indeed, but not to a PL team.
