Luis Suarez pwned by the Lizards and is Staying, and has said sorry to BR and teammates

Tottenham could stun north London rivals Arsenal by entering the race for Liverpool's 26-year-old striker Luis Suarez, should Bale complete his move to Real Madrid.
Full story: Metro

I knew someone would come up with that one eventually, the thought of it makes me nauseous 🤢

Nice to see us not giving in. If Bale goes for 85M then Suarez is worth 65M

That's clearly nonsense, so if Spurs accept 50 mil for Bale would you say Suarez was worth 30? Every transfer has a different set of dynamics, you could just as easily say Van Persie cost 25 million so we should take anything above 20 for Suarez, but that would be stupid. Much like this continuous obsession people have with pricing Suarez relative to Bale. Suarez price is set by only two factors, how much we will accept for him and how much somebody is prepared to pay, at the moment that appears to be somewhere in the region of 45 to 55 million.

It's not nonsense because the two transfers are part of the the others' dynamic.

We were prepared to let him go for 50 million but if Bale if going for 100m when maybe we should revise our expectations. "Oh Arsenal you bid 45m? Here Spurs why don't you pull one on those cunts and have him for 80m. Wouldn't that be nice. Guess you're not such a big club Arsenal. ..."

Nope not at all age, current ability and potential to improve set it.
RVP went for that because he was close to 30.

Bale oer suarez in terms of price simply because of Bale's ability to improve while I think Suarez is as good as he can be now (which is pretty amazing)

Whoever we sell to in England will then sell him for almost double next summer to real, making us look stupid.

Surely Madrid would look stupid in that scenario given they could have him now for half the price in this entirely fictitious deal.

Although if he does go to Arsenal Id wager he will be agitating for a move to Spain within 2 seasons

It's easy not to give in when there isn't much of a chase.

How different would things be if Real were properly interested in Suarez? I think he'd be taking his early summer antics up a notch and we'd be finding it far more difficult to play hardball.

Now he's had to back down because nobody is interested and if he does end up moving to Arsenal he can't just leave it all behind.

I'm caught in two worlds now, I really don't want Bale to leave Spurs, but at the same time, I want Suarez to stay.

The quote you're trying to get away from is "I think that's another one of football's greatest myths".

You're in for a long wait. As, I suspect, am I.

Your comment about improving consistency is misguided. It never happens, because it requires players to be way better than they are.

It's one of those cold comforts for fans - oh we beat x, all we need to do is play like that another 37 times and we'll win the league. Easy.

I'm hoping spurs sell bale. Yeah they'll be able to strengthen, but there's no guarantee they will get the players they want if this fragrance on. Getting more confident that suarez will be here next season.

If Bale goes to Real, Spurs will have money to spend to strengthen but whether they get the right players in is another story. Arsenal won't stump up 50M for Suarez so I can easily see him staying. There's nothing to say that should he stay and we make the CL that he'll want to leave next season even though we'll be better prepared for it. Real may actually want him and be prepared to meet our valuation then.

I reckon Chelsea might still wade in with a 50m+ bid.

Suarez would likely be the same net cost to them as Rooney - half the transfer fee but save 5m a year on wages.

How about

Bale goes - Spurs buy whoever - meh?

Suarez stays - plays like a god next season - we get champions League qualification.

Then we have our turn to feltch £80m from Real Madrid next summer.

Well with the clause interpretation sorted, 55M it is. Suarez will be staying unless Chelsea make a run for him and pay the asking price.

Suarez stays and we get in a few re-inforcements and its CL footy next season. We'll be boss.
