I'm baffled as to why people are coming round to the idea of him joining Arsenal.

We're far enough behind them as it stands...how in the good fuck do we stand a better chance of catching them if we give them our best player in his prime?? even with say £50m to spend, it's a MASSIVE gamble to think we can just go and buy 2 or 3 top players and we'll be better of for it all.
Intentions are all well and good but in reality, it's asking for way too much imo and could very easily set us back further.

it had nothing to do with the price, he just didn't want to come to us. Can't blame him when he had Dortmund as an option.

Eriksen could be a good option if we play him further forward like we did with gerrard behind torres. That way we don't need to worry about him being a bit lightweight.

I'm definitely in the "not selling to any english club regardless of the price" camp. Just think it would be a HUGE mistake which we would definitely regret.

Yes indeed. It's ironic that we need to convince Suarez to spend one more year of his career at the club on the prospect of joining the CL next season yet at the same time we've basically done fuck all in terms of signings to make that any more likely to happen.

A number of posters on here almost revel with sardonic glee at just how perceptive they are in pointing out how far we have fallen, spit out stats like darts with a sarcastic and unforgiving aim, I've done it myself in fact, it's tempting. We need cool heads here, selling on a highly valuable asset in an inflated market to direct opposition on the cheap just because he is no longer loyal to our purported aim of finishing top four and in doing so guarantee we wont get top four is the definition of folly. I don't even care if he hands in a transfer request, he is contracted and is worth way more than what is being offered. It is more important that we do what is best for the club than our own personal feelings on his lack of loyalty.

Realistically there are only one CL spot left to fight for. City, United and Chelsea look very very strong. If we could get 50m and if we spend it wisely on two players we could be better off in the long run. If he stays for another season we have the same situation again next year...probably without CL. Lots of ifs but Suarez is gone, we have to accept that.

I don't think the door is shut for the CL places at all, this season all of United, City and Chelsea have just got in new managers none of them are truly unassailable IMO certainly not Arsenal. Its certainly not impossible for 2 of those teams to have a bad season, last year we were 12 points of Arsenal but then by the same token last year we had what 1 point from the first 5 games? We definitely strengthened after Christmas and would probably have run them much closer if we had started the season in the same form.... perhaps....its a straw and im clutching it.

United are yet again a year older, who's to say RVP wont break down for months again the twangy cunt... relying on a fat miserable Rooney with his joints ground smooth from carrying his own bulk for a decade.... New gimp manager under plenty of pressure with the Dark Lord himself casting his shadow behind the scenes....

Chelsea will probably play a more defensive style next season coming up under Maureen but do they actually have the players to do that? Luis still cant defend for toffee and Captain racist is washed up.... I'm not so sure Essien will be able to dislodge the powerhouse that is Mikel or maybe Fat fwank will roll it out for his dead mother yet again... Are they shifting Mata on or not?

I doubt City will be the shithouses of last season but nonetheless the are still the same bunch of mercenary cunts they always will be... do they have the spirit needed? How about Pellegrini? tales from the fucking crypt....

Last season our teething troubles at the back were painful for 3 or 4 months but they did smooth out, (this is one reason why I didn't think it was a good idea to change goaly!) we have Sturridge and Coutinho in place from the get go players such as Allen and Lucas and Borini cannot actually be worse than last year (how's that for optimism).... fuck it even Downing looked like something vaguely useful after Christmas...

All in all to say the best we can hope for is 4th is a little bit strong, granted our most likely spot is sixth but with heads down and a following wind a little bit of luck we can definitely get in there. A decent signing might well go a long way mind you....

I don't think it is that much of a gamble. He is banned for 6 games. If we got a 5pt lead on them by then cos of Giroud, then we'd have a very good chance regardless of Suarez. Especially if we bought Eriksen and Muriel.

Suarez is 27, he will be passed his peak very quickly. By the time we are in the champions league he'd be older than fucking Soldado. I'd sell him to anybody for £50m this summer, and then get a younger player. Look at our formation, it is far from ideal because we have to accomodate suarez. Its also why downing is in the team and henderson has to cover two positions. Fuck him, Henderson will be thinking the same as well. Its crucial we get rid of him now whilst it is to our gain.

I agree, I like Rodgers and I speak as a fully paid up RCDNW'er.... We cant afford to spend 5 months fannying around like we did last time round mind you... We were shit for too long last time out....I'm optimistic that if we can play post chrimbo style we can get in there.

As for Rodgers, yeah he can sound a little bit too much touched by fucking destiny, the dulcit Irish tone, enormous self portrait, slow well considered poseur bullshit, the blarney stone grates a little against my inner Englander. I really think we are in a win-win situation assuming that clause is a laughable as we seem to think it is. Yeah it's depressing watching him fish for a move but fucking hell, watching him play is the very best sight in the premiership as he is fucking magic. Stats, hopeful additions made with oodles of sales cash....yadda yadda yadda... bollox.... Luis Suarez is the best player in the premiership, if we can actually keep him then we should do just that.

I reckon our best shot of doing that is to hurry the fuck up and go out and buy someone good to play in the same team as him and see what happens.... there is no-one better.
