Luis Suarez pwned by the Lizards and is Staying, and has said sorry to BR and teammates

@Richard_Buxton_: Whatever they're 'smoking' at the Emirates can't be any more lucid than what prompted sanctioning a £20M deal for Stewart Downing #LFC #AFC

Spoken like a true blue.

Not that it isn't true, but he's just pissed off kenwright can't use twitter due to to the 60 character limit.

Quite, but the reference to what happened two years ago is getting tedious.
And the person responsible for those negotiations arent around anymore.

What version of Twitter are you using ?!

Balls, knew I should be said character limit. Can't remember what it is. 160?

Regardless, it could be 1600 & kenwright wouldn't be able to introduce himself on there, never mind say anything of value.

I'm not so sure that the clause is as weak as we seem to think it is or it would strike me as a rather insulting bid by Arsenal.
It is definitely unwelcome especially at that price point which would basically be us selling on the cheap and perhaps that is what it is about for them, cause friction so that the price drops. If Suarez does agitate even more forcibly for a move on the back of this laughable bid then.... there will be a whole new attic in the palace of cunt reserved just for him.

On the bright side for once, finally, I did actually read in the Guardian that we value him at 65M, and theres the rub really. If Arsenal truly want to swing it with the big boys then that's how they would roll, if Arsenal want to dispel the sense of being outgunned by the oligarchs and Reals by buying a megastar then they shouldn't expect to do it on the cheap. If PSG or Monaco or Chelsea had come in for Suarez then none of them would expect to buy him for 20M less than his actual value. In this regard it was nice for once to actually see a more realistic value written of 65M in the same Guardian article. The hypocrisy of the London press has also been fairly easy to discern in all of this. The rags have no problems writing how Bale is a 70M+ player but they always seem to pick the lowest value that comes into their heads for Luis. I also find it amusing that the same London hacks who wanted Luis to be swallowed by the Earth and fall directly onto to his spiked chair at the right hand of the devil are now gleefully anticipating Arsenal fine new addition, it's almost as if he only the anti-Christ if he plays for a non-London side.

IF legally we are compelled to sell and Suarez goes on to sign for them at that price then Ayres head should rightly roll. As for the supposed snipe/tweet from Henry shouldn't we be winning the league by now Mr.Henry? You would be funnier if we had managed to strengthen the fucking team already...

I'm hoping that a raucous Aussie reception form 95,000 will place firmly in Suarez's mind what a force we are and I'm all fingers and toes crossed that the Karma of Kristian Ziege saga hasn't returned to bite us on the ass.

I don't see them going to 50m either, I'm not sure anyone will.

I do think our valuation will eventually drop to meet whatever is on the table

I feel your pessimism Rosco I genuinely do but for once I don't think they can roll over, we all can see he is the best striker in the league and worth considerably more than 40M. How would they coach it to the fans exactly? We sell him on the cheap to a direct competitor strengthening them and undoubtedly weakening us just to stop him sulking?... I don think that would fly tbh.

What does that even mean?

Well....after much abuse...

Right, for the hard of thinking: not saying I've seen Suarez's contract. I'm saying Arsenal have evidently been told there is a clause...

..for offers of above £40m. But they don't know is whether Liverpool have to talk at that point, or simply inform Suarez.

So they put in a bid to see how the clause works. There is a risk: it will annoy Liverpool. But worth considering how Suarez left Groningen.

If there's a legal dispute between Liverpool and his people over the clause, then he has leverage to force a move.

What does that even mean?

I think he's saying that Arsenal are bidding that amount to try and establish what the clause in Suarez's contract actually means. Arsenal obviously want to sign him, but on the cheap; they won't go up to £50 million or more, which is why their opening bids were so low.

I also think they want to screw another team over because they've been screwed over by players forcing moves away from them.

Rory Smith did say it in a smug, twattish way for some reason.

Well I don't think Suarez is in Bale's bracket when it comes to transfer value.

My pessimism/ pragmatism stems from the fact that there's 5 or six weeks left before the window shuts. Way too much time for Luis to be Luis and pull some stunts that make it difficult for us to do anything other than sell him. He's got Mascherano potential, at minimum.

What a load of utter brainless bollocks, for the "hard of thinking".

How does a legal dispute give him leverage to force a move? The contract will be water tight, if it only means we have to inform the player, then it means fuck all really. In this day and age, does anyone really think the player wouldn't know if a club was in for him, a player of that standing? His agent will know EVERYTHING.

Well done Rory, thick cunt.

I think this is true, but I really don't think he would agitate in that sort of way to move to Arsenal. Were it Real Madrid, which may still happen.....

Breathe, Mark, breathe...

Re. The comment about blaming Ayre if there really is a £40m release in his contract. I remind you that at the end of last season Luis looked great and we needed to sign him up on a long term contract. A release clause at almost double what we paid only 18months previously was amazing. Of course since then he has reinforced that first full season with a stellar one and his value has increased beyond the clause.

You can't use the 20-20 vision of hindsight to judge actions that were reasonable 12 months ago.

Wouldn't blame the journo's, it's been pretty dull summer of transfers for the bug teams in England, this adds to the column inches

That said hope out contract is water tight, as we truly would be left with egg on our faces if it isn't...

If ...

At this point nobody knows what the clause says.

The reality is that I would be surprised if there isn't an arbitration clause in the contract to deal with any issues of interpretation - meaning they can be dealt with by an independent arbitrator in a speedy fashion rather than heading for the court.

So Suarez shouldn't have any leverage with threatening legal action.

Why on earth would it? He's our player until we say otherwise. Why would we drop our value? Mentalist.

I look forward to the press changing their tune about Suarez as a player and a man if he signs for those trophyless cunts.
