Luis Suarez pwned by the Lizards and is Staying, and has said sorry to BR and teammates

Thats true, irony at its finest. The wording could apperantly be better from my part. But the transfer request forfeits the payment of what could be 1 mill £.
Twas my point mate 🙂

So this is BS then? We wont have to pay him off if he doesnt hand in a transfer request?
Liverpool have no intention of acceding to Suárez’s demand to leave the club for Real Madrid unless he forces the issue by submitting a transfer request, thereby forfeiting his right to a substantial loyalty bonus in excess of £1 million.

Think about how stupid it would be to give a 'loyalty bonus' to a player who has talked all summer long about getting out of Liverpool.

It's not a loyalty bonus.

When parties want to end a contract early they need to agree to end it and on what terms. The pay off is what is negotiated, it is usually the difference between what the player would have earned with us and what he'll earn with a new club. That becomes a loyalty bonus in journalistic shorthand.

A transfer request doesn't alter the situation. It weakens a players hand in negotiating a pay off. It's a clear sign he wants out, but lets face it even in the absence of a transfer request you don't have to be Johnny Cochrane to be able to make the case that Suarez wants out.

The flip side is, you don't want to have to go to court to prove it either. So a small payoff can make sense for a club.

Ah, cheers. As you say though it looks better for the selling club if the players hand in a transfer request.
Not that its relevant here, but I hope Villa hang on to Benteke and dont give in to his transfer request unless Spurs pay the 25 mill they want.
The player power theses days are insane.

And with him certain to earn more money in Madrid, where does the 1m figure come from?
I still don't understand the transfer business.

Ayre should tell Suarez to hand in a transfer request and the terms of what the club will accept should any suitors come calling. He should shut up or put up and get on with it. Everyone is playing a waiting game. We must put a time frame on any possibly sale or keep him for the duration of his contract. He has 3 years left putting us in the driving seat. Selling him with 2 years left is going to weaken our hand unless he has a sensational season for us again.

I suspect there will be movement pretty soon. Its only four days until he has to look his teammates in the eye. The phone call will probably happen before that.

He's running out of options. If Ancelotti wants Ibra then there arent many places he can go

The thing I like about this whole episode, is that it may kick us out of our mediocrity for a while. I am hoping fans and players and management will see what the future is like without the CL (more of these dramas) and say "Feck this, we've got to try harder for the CL".

Where as pre-Suarez-transfer-bollocks the management, players, and supporters were content with being shite?

I think so. There's been a lack of hunger from our staff, and players. We're far too accepting of the slide. We need some one like Suarez to kick us in the face, and show us the future. Fucks Sake - Spurs, Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea. They're not that much better than us. We're well capable of matching them with some hunger, with a decent mentality. None of this, "Uh well, you know we hope or would like to be in the CL". You won't get back in the CL if you are as wishy washy as we are about getting in there. From Hodgson's appointment onward, it's like we talk ourselves into Mid Table mediocrity.

It was far from being contented with mediocrity. They decided to take a gamble to get back to the top four by stopping and rebuilding. That was always going to lead to a period in which we'd risk losing our best players whilst struggling to attract others. I never agreed the gamble was the best way to go about things but, as they took it, they've done okay in their efforts to regain some momentum. But that's why Suarez is off. It was always likely and it's collateral damage.

I know Macca, but we need to now set our sights higher, if we're going to inspire the players to get back into the CL.

I don't think you can point the finger and question the attitude like that tbh. Plain facts are Chelsea and City have spent huge money repeatedly and financially we cant compete with them, Manure are still the boss and have been well managed for donkeys years as have Arsenal. The players can see we are outgunned, I cant remember the last time we went into a big game and rolled over but comparatively we do not have as many match winners and in a competitive league over 38 games we have not been good enough since Rafa's penultimate season.

MAYBE if we could squeeze huge money out of the sale of Suarez and buy good quality young hungry players we could keep them long enough to build a good enough team.... but then we would also be selling the best player in the league in the short term IMO.

The beauty of it is that with the fanbase we still have if we were to actually get our shit sorted stadium wise and be able to get back on a more competitive financial footing eventually despite all the talk of us being has beens we will get back in there. We are not that far away it is true, and maybe Rodgers can get the best out of them and with the kerfuffles above we can sneak back in this next season coming, if not then we cant expect to hang on to Suarez can we really.

I suspect that if we were desperate to keep him and push into the top 4 then it would have been a really good idea to have already signed 2 or 3 top class players we can point at to illustrate our ambition, we haven't yet.... we makes me think that we just don't have the fucking minerals yet money wise....

I don't need Suarez to stay particularly, that's not what I want, what I want is Suarez to actually want to stay because we've just signed up a few nifty signings...

I've been patient for 20 odd years, all the hype of the press and negative shit doesn't count for shit in the long run, taking brickbats from hacks and opposition fans alike isn't going to make me support less, EVENTUALLY I genuinely have faith we will get back in the and get that 6th big ears....

Man city and Chelsea and Arsenal will be waiting a long fucking time for that I reckon....

In fact having written all that I'm feeling so utterly "real fan" I'm gonna sign of properly

YNWA.

cunts all of em...

Well, to be fair, that's what they're doing, isn't it? Putting the club effectively in dry dock was what I disagreed with, but since they've relaunched it they've upped their game as far as recruits are concerned - Coutinho, Sturridge, Aspas, Alberto - and we can only hope that they'll now push us back up the league.

Yep, our squad is considerably stronger now than it was this time last summer.... we've got a shot alright.... a long shot but still.... A quality midfielder would be a boost.

True enough. I just don't want to hear any more defeatist minimalist talk from the management any more. CL objectives for this year, title soon after

My inital thoughts/reaction to all of this was 'Fuck Off Suarez' but thinking on it, and in spite of cuntish levels rarely seen before, fact is we will not get back into the CL or compete for titles without players of Suarez's ability. He is one of the best players out there right now and hopefully the club can convince him to stay. I think Rodgers and the club in general are doing well with this so far. They're not responding to the quotes as they pop up. One tweet saying he wasn't for sale and a measured reply from BR that he is talking to the player regularly. Hopefully he reports for pre-season and we start getting some positive news.

The path to greatness isn't fucking off players "who don't want to be here"

It's controlling our destiny by dictating whether they leave or stay.
They leave if we can get someone better. They stay if we can't. Price be damned.

We put the club first. Fuck all this emotional bullshit about loyalty.

There is no bid for LS at all apart from the cheeky 30 million by the Goons. How strange.

Yes, why o why is no one bidding for the dissident biting racist perma banned twat?
It defies all logic. Which team WOULDNT want an apple like him at their club?

How many teams bid for Owen before he left for 8 million?
How many teams are bidding for Ibra who wants out?

Which team WOULDNT want an apple like him at their club?

Yup, once theyve missed out on Falcao, Cavani, Bale etc Madrid may very well turn to Suarez.

Reports concerning the future of Luis Suarez vary though. TheDaily Mirror states Arsenal are leading the race to sign the Uruguayan striker, while Real Madrid are maintaining a tough stance over the transfer fee. The Liga giants are willing to part with just £25 million for Suarez, well below the valuation of Liverpool.

However, the Daily Mail reports the Gunners may miss out on Suarez and Higuain, as an exchange deal between Real and the Reds is set to take place. Both strikers are in high demand - including from Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who is desperate to bolster his attacking stocks - and it is said Liverpool and Real Madrid believe a swap would be in their best interests.

Real Madrid could demand around £37 million for Arsenal and Napoli target Gonzalo Higuain, according to theTimes. FULL STORY.

Marca reports that Real Madrid have told Arsenal they'll need to stump up €40million if they want Gonzalo Higuain.

Sounds like Madrid are upping their value on Higuain to try and get a swap move to happen with us if you ask me.
