Luis Suarez pwned by the Lizards and is Staying, and has said sorry to BR and teammates

I would take the 50M and be shot of Suarez who is an embarassment. Benteke, Muriel or Lukaku could be available for a decent wedge of that cash. The transfer committee would have identified targets even if its plan B with Costa opting to stay at Atletico.

If Suarez goes to the Arse we will not overtake them, not this coming season anyway. Everything else is a sideshow IMHO.

You just can't "know" that though. Plus it doesn't take into account the potential downside (we all know the potential upside) of him staying to us?

I think we can pretty much know it, Dan. They're already ahead of us and they'll have added a player who will get them two dozen or more extra goals even *with* the kind of problems to which you refer. IMHO John Henry is 100% correct not to want to take that risk.

If he signed for Arsenal, how do you know Suarez won't have another 2011-2012 season where fuck all would go in for him?

You can't "know" anything in August Jules. That's the beauty of football.

That's pure conjecture. 50M could significantly transform us. Get in a top striker, right winger and centre back to go straight into the starting XI and we're in business. Its all about spending the money smartly and getting in the right players.

Sure Suarez is a world class player and would strengthen the Gooners. We're aren't a team without flaws and we will be afforded an opportunity to fix these. Its a catch-22 situation but with every transfer, theres a calculated gamble to be had.

We are right to play hardball and demand an apology but where does it leave us should Suarez opt not to apologise? Leave him out of the team and his value depreciates. It could happen unfortunately. 50M is a pretty tidy sum to re-invest. I don't think we should cut off our nose to spite our face. Let's get things done and quickly.

I don't think any of these Machiavellian plots have any substance in fairness. Wenger is not going to spend 40-50M on a player to destabilize a team that finished 7th last season. His focus will be on strengthening Arsenal.
Two birds with one stone comes to mind 😉

How do we bring in 3 top class players for 50m at this point in the transfer window?
Bare in mind we've already been rejected by two 20m class players this window.

I think we have to go for players from France or Holland.
As unexciting a prospect as we may be, we are certainly a bigger draw by dint of the league we are in.
Eriksen, Eiderelderaldewelder, Wijnaldum, Narsingh, Matavs, Grenier etc

The same way be brought in Sturridge and Coutinho. There's still time.

We were never in with a chance for Mykartihyan if reports are to be believed and Costa signed an extension to stay at Atletic after they sold Falcao. I'm not sure that we guaranteed him first team football as he is at Atletico.

We're not done yet and money talks. Every player has a price baring in mind that we would pay a premium for players the later we sign them in the window.

Dreamy, I dont mean to be a dick but Torres went on the last day of the season and we signed Suarez. If we HADNT signed Carroll no one would have give a shit. The problem wasnt selling Torres at the end of the window it was wasting money needlessly.
If we sold Suarez we can replace him and be better off.

We've finished per season and start 'the leagie' 😉 in 5 days, not enough time IMHO, players need time to gel and I think we can that Aspas will hit the ground running with a solid per season behind at our club.
If we can get the players in and the are an instant hit then superb but that's a huge gamble and 1 just greater than keeping a stroppy Suarez. Both Rodgers and Henry have said there was a sell by date and it's clearly passed

Well if they gelled, as you say, in anything up to six matches they would still be starting the league at the same time as Suarez would be.

Where's this imminent bid that's being prepared?

How hard is it to send an email saying:

Dear Liverpool,

How about £50m for Suarez

Cordial regards

Arsenal

We are trying to bring in talent, but they don't want to come. Having an extra £50m won't change that.

To be honest, I think the board members/chairman would have to agree to a structure of the proposed deal, and checks would have to be made and paper work written to ensure the money is ready for the transfer and everything legally is in place, it is £50million quid after all.

Actually it will by us having to pay a premium in wages unfortunately. Citeh is the evidence thereof. At the end of the day, footballers love money and money talks an international language.

That's the first thing I'm not that happy about - this apology thing needs to be played down now instead of stressed repeatedly in public, it's only going to provoke things needlessly. Say it once and then deal with it internally.

Totally agree with this. If it drags on, it will be verging on t-shirt and envelope stupidity.
