Luis Suarez pwned by the Lizards and is Staying, and has said sorry to BR and teammates

I think Hansern's probably on to something and this is desperation talking. Both Wenger and Gazidis are frantically trying to convince the fans they now intend to use the cash they're (supposedly) rolling in to make a genuine push for the top, maybe even under instructions from the board to do so. Higuain was widely reported to have wanted to join them but one way or another they fouled that up, so they're hoping against hope and betting the farm on Suarez.

My heart pumps purple p!$$ for them.

With Torres FSG blew it by acting tough and then collapsing within the space of a day, so there was no self-saving thing to do but rush out and try to look bold and big at the last minute. This time, so far, I think they've been absolutely superb, so I can't believe they'd back down again. In which case the Arse are really straining their fans' patience.

All true, but I reckon they think (probably rightly) that the fans' patience is stretched already. To adopt the words of Don King, they have two chances of getting Suarez, slim and none, and they're lumping everything they have on "slim" because (presumably on the say-so of Suarez' agent - and if THAT's right they really are numpties) they thought they'd get him for that £40,000,001 and haven't laid backup plans.

Our interest in Mkhitaryan and Costa have done fuck all to give an impression to us about the club's ambition so I doubt the Arse supporters will be pleased by the end of the window if they don't bring anyone in.

Course they will, I'm not really questioning the gullibility of the fans, it's a bit more of a case of the board desperately trying to save face, and no doubt looking like chumps in doing so.

One thing I will say though, for how active we have been (and I agree with posters in the other thread, we still look heavily short in key areas), we're not the only side struggling to get business done, there's not been massive activity so far for many clubs. It's like this most seasons, and much as we all hate it, there must be a plausible reason why clubs leave it so late in the day.

fair point, but man city, who are in a different league when it comes to finances, seem to have sorted out the bulk of their activity even though they have had a new manager to deal with.

But the first part of that surely explains why, they don't have to haggle.

i would say that manure, city and chelsea are all on a relative par when it comes to spending big, city clearly just ahead. in terms of transfer activity, city are more advanced.

They're just the more attractive proposition at present. United have always struggled to attract big name players from foreign shores, of course they've bought a few, but they've failed with many more. City have money, a big name continental manager, an all ready well built squad and are more than capable of fighting on all four fronts, same with Chelsea really and they both have a bigger mix of high profile exciting foreign players.

I think it's a perfect smokescreen for the lizards to get away with zero net spend and a lower wage bill.

Sky Sports sources (usually meaning we haven't got a foggiest) claiming Suarez will not apologise to club or team mates.

Once the season starts, his ban has gone and he realises it's a world cup season, he'll suddenly get all contrite. It's just a case of ensuring he stays here until then.

Actually, selling Suarez for 50M + at the very last moment would put a big sum in the bank AND get a big earner off the wage bill !

Don't see it though .... unless Real fail with Bale and turn to Suarez (60M and he's yours, can't do better than that Guv.) !

If Arsenal do make another bid, we better take at least a week mulling it over.

And then reject it of course

Anyone with the clubs best interests in mind wouldn't trade with a club so obviously a rival for any amount. Increasing a rivals advantage because of a disaffected player would render them weak and not fit to manage. .
