Yes, time for another Suarez thread. Borrowing from Jimmy's stats in the other thread.

16 games: 22 goals. 12 assists. Fuck knows how many nutmegs, dribbles and moments of epic genius. This guy is truly amazing. And despite the shenanigans of the summer, I can't help loving Suarez vintage 2013-14. Not only is his record unprecedented in this league in modern times, his leadership and sense of team spirit has been nothing short of exemplary. He has learned from his mistakes on the pitch (going down too easily, remonstrating with officials) and has, utterly amazingly, practically become a sports media darling. His encouragement of his fellow players and the delight he takes in their goals and assists is terrific. So in spite of knowing better, I love Luis. LOVE HIM!!

Great post!

At the risk of him leaving to Madrid in the summer and although I swore to never love a player again (they're all mercenaries...)
...I can't help but love him too!

I literally just can't get enough - The game has just started on LFC TV so I am going to watch it all over again.

Just to echo Doc a bit - Apart from all the goals and moments of magic it's the genuine joy he takes in watching his team mates do well. Particularly Flanno and Sterling. I fucking love that! He's the footballing equivalent of Ace Rimmer - "What a guy!"

Am I a fool waiting to have his heart Torres'd for believing he'll stay if we make the champions league?

He certainly keeps insisting that we need to make the top 4 and that it is all about the top 4. If it is true that he has a release clause that will be activated if we don't make the top 4, then he certainly is playing like a man who wants to stay. He's putting everything he has into getting us there.

If he carries us to the Champions League and leaves for 60million to Madrid I won't be angry with him.

I'll obviously be devastated to see him go but I won't be bitter.

Yeah, I'd feel the same way. The dreamer in me prays he leads us to the CL and then tears up the CL as Liverpool's number 7. Imagine those spine-tingling CL nights in Anfield with Suarez blasting goals in against the European giants in a red shirt.

His work rate as well is extraordinary. When Johnson lost the ball in their half, it was Suarez who raced back to tackle the player midway in our half. Phenomenal performance.

Also, is there a better free-kick taker in world football at the moment?

He's been scoring some ridiculous free-kicks in the last 12 months with ease.

What we need to really get this party going is some vids and pics. Favourite goal clips. Favourite moments.

If Suarez could magic us to a massively surprising League Title win then I think the whole country will probably forgive his mistakes in the past.... He has to be favourite to be player of the year for both players and writers...

But if he managed the impossible then you would probably have to proclaim an new king of the kop!

The lad can be the best player we have ever had if he managed that and stayed in the future aswell....

I think there are two ways of looking at it. Technically, and ability-wise he probably is the best. However, in terms of contribution to the club, and over a sustained period, there are players who have done more on a greater scale and at a higher level.
