Let's say the club would spend £65m on one player, would it be justified? I mean two hard working £30m players is surely more important than one?
It depends. It always does.
I don't mind us splashing the rather silly amount of £65M if it's on the right player - after all it's just a number to me and one that's dictated by the market and the insane, seemingly never-ending injection of money it gets.
In a perfect world we'd simply put, just buy the right players, whether they are free or cost a gazillion.

Nope, Coutinho is worth more in todays market. Besides Barca are reputed to be giving Rakitic plus cash.

Ditto. I don't think he's gash, but I also don't think he's reliable, and he'd need to be for me to want to spend that kind of money.
He seems very light weight and disappears a lot whenever I've seen him. I'm sure we could do a lot better for that money.

Cash & Rakitic for Coutinho is one to consider.
Obviously Coutinho is one hell of a player but we have lots of attacking options and we need a good DM. I wouldn't be averse to this especially if the cash substantial.

Rakitic might add some much needed guile and invention to our central midfield. Plus he'd be an old head on this team, and possibly provide some leadership. The issue would be that we'd definitely have to revert to a 4-2-3-1 to accommodate him, and Klopp for whatever reason seems to have abandoned that formation.
The other issue of course is that we'd never properly replace Coutinho in the attacking department. I can see us looking hard for a replacement, and ultimately panicking and overpaying for someone average .
Replacing players is just something we're not good at; so I'd be averse to selling Coutinho in general.
