Emre Can has been attracting interest from Juventus
All the latest Liverpool transfer news and rumours from across the British and European press on Sunday, June 4.
Liverpool remain hopeful of reaching a contract solution with Emre Can despite an approach from Juventus, the Mail on Sunday reports.
The Germany international has one year left on his current deal, and there have been questions over his future once Jordan Henderson returns to action.

The Sunday Express also says that the Reds are ready to steal a march on Premier League rivals Arsenal and Man Utd by snatching £50m-rated Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette from under their noses.
The Frenchman was expected to make a move to Atletico Madrid this summer but the La Liga club saw a FIFA transfer ban upheld last week, leaving the door open for Lacazette to move elsewhere.

Alexandre Lacazette's move to Atletico Madrid has fallen through
There is also set to be a transfer battle on Merseyside as Liverpool will go head-to-head with Everton for Anderlecht striker Lukasz Teodorczyk, according to the Mirror.
La Liga club Sevilla are also said to be interested and Anderlecht are willing to sell, but their £10m valuation of the player is yet to be met.

Lukaku has agreed to join another PL club playing in the CL next season. Transfer across Stanley Park?

Highly unlikely, off to united or chelsea surely!

There's talk of us being linked with Gelson Martins of Sporting Lisbon. He's talented but very raw. He'd be another risky one for me, and by the sounds of things he's massively overvalued by Lisbon. Rumour mill has it at 39 million quid.

Today's links:

James - linked to us by Don Ballon. I'd start a new thread but they get more wrong than me, so I'm not bothering with that. 0%.
Fabinho (Monaco) - advanced discussions with Monaco, who's manager is heading to China.
Bellerin - linked to Barcelona (80%+ imo)
Eriksen - linked to Barcelona (@Kay Age El)

Gone up already!

Jurgen Klopp is ready to splash the cash this summer ahead of the club’s return to the Champions League next season and he’s keen to get his transfer business done early.

Liverpool have been pushing for move to sign Roma winger Mohamed Salah with the Reds reportedly agreeing personal terms with the former Chelsea player.

But the Merseyside outfit have hit a stumbling block in negotiations with the club as they are yet to meet Roma’s £35m asking price.

And Sky Sports claim they have now turned their attention to Martins.

The 22-year-old, who scored six goals for the Portuguese side last season, was scouted regularly by the Reds.

Martins is said to have a £46.5m release clause in his contract but Sporting could sell him for around £40m.

Why would we react to Salah being priced at £35m by turning to a lesser player priced at far more than that? These articles must be written by monkeys.

Maybe there has been a fluctuation in the exchange rate.

So we're going to pay £5million more than Roma want for our first choice in order to make sure we get our second choice from Sporting. That's great Sky News, thanks for that.

Usual silly season shite.

Why are you blaming sky news? Didn't the story break on BBC? via A Bola?

That's the why.

I don't know where it broke, I tend not to research where bullshit comes from. It doesn't really matter where it comes from anyway, they all spew bs when they need to.

Newcastle to be offered chance to land Daniel Sturridge in the summer, as Benitez eyes solid season start in the PL. [The Chronicle]

This other fella is appaz also an assist king, rapid, and also won more tackles than any other forward in the league last season so you can see why Klopp would be keen.

The 25-year-old Dutch defender is out of contract at the end of next season, along with Lucas Biglia and Keita Baldé Diao.

With around the same number of games played (26) as Gerard Piqué (25) and Samuel Umtiti (25), de Vrij has managed to five key passes compared to the two combined from the club’ current first-choice pairing.

On top of that, de Vrij has made a whopping 60 interceptions compared to Pique’s 36 and Umtiti’s 50. Piqué has made one more block than the Dutchman’s 14, which is still twice as much as Umtiti’s seven.

These statistics paint an accurate picture of what de Vrij’s main strengths. Tactically disciplined, the Lazio man always seems to be tight to his man and in the perfect position to make stop a pass reaching its target.

The timing and execution of his tackling is a thing of beauty, too.

Ignoring the potential drawbacks to signing de Vrij would be negligent, of course, because there are a few.

De Vrij relishes a physical battle as much as any defender, but the Blaugrana’s medical staff would probably wince if they saw him going in for a crunching tackle because of his injury history.

That knee operation ruled him out for most of the 2015/16 season, but he’s suffered a string of other setbacks since then.

This season has seen him miss a dozen games through a variety of injuries including an abductor tear, a metatarsal fracture and muscular problems, so keeping him fit throughout a league and Champions League campaign will be easier said than done.

On top of that, Lazio owner Claudio Lotito notoriously strikes a hard bargain
so, even if the Italian club can’t get de Vrij to extend his contract past its current expiration date next summer, they are likely to demand somewhere in the region of €35-40million.
