Beşiktaş president Fikret Orman has revealed that the club had reached an agreement worth €4 million over Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva.

Orman stated that Leiva and his partner had already packed their bags but that the deal fell through after Brendan Rodgers changed his mind last minute.

“We had finished the transfer but Brendan Rodgers changed his mind at the last minute,” Orman told the Milliyet.
“Lucas and his partner had their suitcases packed it was all wrapped up.”

Orman did however, underline that in hindsight he is pleased that the transfer stalled as Beşiktaş had planned to sign Lucas as a replacement for Veli Kavlak and Tolgay Arslan who are both out injured until the turn of the year.
Beşiktaş have however, managed to cope well without their two central midfielders and are currently first in the league.

“In hindsight it worked out in our favour, we saved €4 million, Veli is back soon the team is doing really well and it is not like Lucas has been outstanding either,” he added.

Hahahahaha....

Not a big fan of Lucas but 4 million is peanuts in today's market unless he is on silly wages

It all Depends on the way the players respond to the new manager off and on the pitch. Some fan favourites may find it hard to adapt to the new regime in terms of fitness and workload expected of them. It remains to be seen who survives and who doesn't.

Yeah I'm sure the paceless, pedestrian crab like Lucas will thrive under Klopp's high intensity game focused on the speed of transition from defence to attack and vice versa

I agree that we might need to replace him as I mentioned in another thread but do we have anyone better in that role currently?

Allen? No.
Henderson? No.
Milner? Hell no.
Can? He's not there yet.

Haha! In a 4-2-3-1 I'd rather have everyone you mentioned there instead of Lucas.

He'll be gone in January or at the latest June. Hopefully.

Oh I disagree. I think Lucas will survive another manager.

Who knows he might be transformed.

For the record he was good in the derby and outstanding against Villa. His best ever game in red IMHO so I think there at least a half a dozen players in a worst spot than him

Best game? Those were before he got injured an aeon ago. He's a shadow of wonderman.

Would add that he was part of that three man midfield when we beat Spurs 5-0 away.
Probably the best pressing I've seen from us.

Nuri Sarin is famed for his pace.

I will be surprised myself if Lucas makes it but we shall see.
