Luc Castaignos chase hots up as Bologna leap frog Liverpool
Liverpool are set to step up their interest in Inter Milan forward Luc Castaignos, after Bologna stole a march in the race to sign the highly rated forward.

Like the Luc of you: Liverpool keen on Castaignos (Picture: AP Photo)
Castaignos only joined Inter in the summer, following a remarkable break through campaign at Eredivisie side Feyenoord, scoring 15 goals in 37 games after graduating from their award-winning academy setup.
However, despite his obvious potential, the 19-year-old has found match time hard to come by in Italy, playing just four times in the league this term, and only finding the net once, in a 1-0 win over Siena in November.
Inter are open to allowing Castaignos to leave the San Siro on loan, alerting long-term admirers Liverpool, but it's Serie A side Bologna who have now jumped the queue, offering to return the Dutchman in the summer fully adapted to life in the Italian top flight.
That's a promising package, but Liverpool are now ready to show their hand, and offer a large loan fee of around £2 million to help push through a deal, with the option to buy at the end of it.
Inter aren't looking to sell, but Castaignos' management company Sportconsult Nederland admitted this week that their client is a wanted man.
'We can confirm that there is interest from Italy, England and Germany,' said a spokesman.
'Luc has the intention to stay at Inter, but he wants to play and make minutes. He has spoken to Claudio Ranieri about his situation and we are now working on it.'
Liverpool are expected to make contact in the next two weeks, but also have other targets that include Anderlecht's Matias Suarez, PSG's Mevlut Erding and Valencia's Roberto Soldado, as Kenny Dalglish looks to add to his forward line.

Anelka

He was fantastic - That game against Newcastle where Owen, Fowler and Anelka tore them to shreds. One of the finest Liverpool performances I've seen. With Anelka at the heart of everything.

I really don't recall Anelka being as good for us as most others seem to.

True but the fact that he was replaced by Diouf was a key factor in how highly he is rated here, if he hadnt been replaced by one of the most embarrassing pricks ever to pull on a Liverpool jersey I think people would remember him differently
