Lol Arsenal (PL game)

Wish I could remember which poster strongly disagreed with my pre-season assertion that Arsenal would finish out of the top 4 and suggested there was no chance of us finishing ahead of them. The writing has been on the wall for a couple of seasons, they are a shambles.
That would be Skully.

Arsenal still have European games to play (we didn't) and the Europa League is more of a hindrance to league prospects than the Champions league is. Add to that that Arsenal still don't have a decent DM'er and still only have one (Koscielny) decent CB. Lacazette might improve them but I suspect he won't.

As things stand I see Arsenal missing out on top 4 but won't be surprised if they focus on the Europa League by Spring once it becomes clear it's their best route to next season CL. Also it would enable Wenger to claim his first European trophy.

Cheers Doc, I remember being very surprised that anyone could think Arsenal were "nailed on" for top 4.

You know what, I think that last night finally may have been the last straw for Arsenal's board. But not for the reasons we may think.

Last night, all those empty seats and the tangible apathy of the crowd might be what finally forces the hand of Arsenal's frugal owners.

They've clearly not been interested in success on the pitch for some time, but if the fans are starting to lose the will to fork out, then I think we will see the owners make a change. It'll be interesting to see if apathy is taking over, or rather was it the weather that kept everyone away.

Bang on.

Remember that Christmas game when Wolves beat Woy's side 1-0 at Anfield? Well those games between Christmas and New Year are often the hardest to get tix for, as the scouse diaspora returns from around the globe to have the hols with their folks - and you could pay on the door. There were gaps all over the stadium, and I knew he was gone for the same reasons. The fact we got beat won't have helped, but next week he was out.

Bums on seats innit.

Yep, exactly that. The bottom line matters more than anything to these owners.

But as evidenced by the "ticket sales", attendance was meant to be good last night. There could be many excuses the owners might want to use

Be interesting to see how it pans out

Lol on another front

Mario Return?

Mario Balotelli is ready to return to England, according to his super-agent Mino Raiola.
The forward, who had an underwhelming spell at Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers before being shipped out by Jurgen Klopp, has been in scinitalling form for Nice this season, scoring 13 goals in 19 games.
And Balotelli - who is available on a free transfer this summer - looks set to be on the move.
Mario is ready to return. He’s matured and he’s one of the top ten forwards in the world, and he’s the No. 1 in Italy. He’s worth €100 million, but he’s available on a free, so he’s a bargain.

I’m already negotiating with many clubs in England and Italy. I’ve spoken with Juve, Roma, Napoli and Inter, but not Milan.
Could a sensational Liverpool return be on the cards for Mario Balotelli?
Nope.
But it would be interesting to see him back in the Premier League.

Yeah, well done getting an average amount of goals for Nice, who sit 9th in the shittest of the big 5 leagues, on half the points of PSG. OK he got a couple against Monaco but the vast majority are against shit you've never heard of.

If he comes to England it should be straight to Middlesborough or similar.

A bit like what happened with Hodgson— Henry & co. were prepared to let that season meander and nake a d vision at the end of the season. But the empty seats forced a prompt decision to get rid.

Same when Ged got the hook too wasn't it? Seem to remember empty seats near the end of his reign.

Yeah David Silva is the difference. I think our front three are marginally better than theirs.

Sane can be very good but I'd still have Mane over him. I prefer the strength and power of Mane even though Sane is a better dribbler. Also I'd rather have Salah over De Bruyne, and Firminio is defo better than Aguero IMHO.

But when you add in the midfield components then they have a better atatck overall.

Silva is similar to coutinhos with regard to bring able to operate well in tight spaces and possess amazing vision. His dribbling and long range shooting might not be as good as Coutinhos but his defensive work rate is much better and as such he isn't a defensive liability as Coutinho sometimes was.

Can't wait to beat City again in CL but it'll be harder as they will have Silva back.

De Bruyne would walk into our team. And any team.

Considering de bruyne doesn't play similar position to Salah, it's bizarre to compare.

Front 3 (as per appearances), sane aguero sterling Vs mane firmino and Salah . Hard to compare as both are excellent

Then it gets one sided. Silva, de bruyne and fernandinho absolutely rapes any combination of our midfield with pipe of pringles style girth.

Silva and de bruyne are genuine greats of the game

Remember that game, I took Dreambeliever the match. Fucking freezing, got beat 1-0 and there was only about 30,00 there (if that)

Yep we were so narrow and hopeless.

I remember reading the match program and Roy saying that fans had to realize Wolves was now where our level was and that it was a 6 pointer.

Fuck me!!
