Liverpool's Summer Transfers : Speculation & Rumours

I'm tired of whining about signing players especially on the back of us being the current title holders.
Let Man U, Chelsea, City and to a lesser extent Arsenal strengthen their teams.
If it leads to more competitive games, then so be it, I for one welcome the competition.
When it's all said and done, we still have a pretty decent team and our best XI (yeah I said it) is second to none in the league.

Yeah I defo want a closer league this year. Romping to victory is shit. It's boring all this winning lark, let the teams bridge the gap and make it a tighter affair.

Wouldn't it be a greater feat to beat them despite all the strengthening they've done?

Tbf it actually was a bit boring. The only drama past about November was when covid hit and it looked like the bastards might cancel the league.

Anyway, I think we need to make signings and I'm sick of people telling me we've got no money. These tight fuckers who own us should dip their hands in their pockets then.

I hope City sign Messi and Koulibaly so they can batter everyone and beat us a couple of times and make a real race of it.

Part of me is hoping that the change in CEO will be the catalyst we need to invest. Maybe hard decisions were being delayed until the switch and with Hogan starting today this is surely #1 of the agenda. I bet he’d love to be the guy to bring us Thiago.

we need to look at ourselves and start the transition by bringing in a couple of top younger players in their early 20's.
One striker/forward, one midfielder.
Also a back-up center back.

So young, hungry and talented for those positions? Like Jones, Brewster and Hoever?
We also have Taki who seems guaranteed to feature more and Shaq who should play more, barring a year of BS niggles again.

I've seen nothing from the other teams which should affect our ability to compete. Avoid injuries and get Henderson back fit and we'll be wondering which of our good players will be on the bench each game.

We still need a CB and RB...

Williams is still a long way off being a quality RB, lok at the room he was giving Aubameyang. "IF" Serge Aurier is looking to leave Spurs we should consider him.

He predominantly plays at RB, and in that postion He looks to be a better defender than TAA. Going forway he is very good, but he is not as good as TAA.
I also believe he could become a Quality CB, better than Gomez, and maybe even Matip...

He is worth the look

Havent the other clubs taken up loans to fund the spending that is happening this pre season (among other things)?
Utd took out another loan of around 140 mill not long ago.

Would you want the club to borrow money to fund signing a few players now, or stick with the sell first and then sign?

I want to win the league by 50 fucking points

Couldn't give a fuck if the premier league becomes a farmers league

I want us to be the best, year in year out, and to put europe to the sword too

Arsed with close leagues. I don't want an agueroooooo moment. I don't want a macheda moment. I want the league to be so fucking dour and so fuckign drab, and pummel the opposition to submission

Cool, so what were we doing before COVID? Since the champions league win we've invested....20m? Kostas and Taki? Sepp too.

we're having out greatest period of success in premier league era, and whilst there is excuses for some inactivity, this just seems like gross negligence.

It was just a question. Spurs, Everton and Utd seem to have borrowed money to spend given the lack of income. Chelsea and City are funded by oil money.

I would like to spend money on a few players aswell, but it seems some on here thinks that the Covid pandemic arent effecting our finances.

Oooh Fabio, I had no idea how *forceful* you could be!

Of course it's effecting our finances, difference is that other teams understand that standing still is akin to falling back. you find me a successful club in world football who aren't taking loans out.

Right now, we have arguably one of the best midfielders in the world practically knocking down our door, but some people acting like it's fucking danny drinkwater, thinking we don't need him

One the greatest criticisms I have of our team is that our midfield doesn't create consistent chances. I'm not asking for them to be our main creative outlet, as Trent and robbo are just the fucking best at opening teams up. Problem is, when one is missing (see last weekend, see the derby against everton), we look bereft of any ideas.

There's a hope Naby lad can come good this season, but based on injury record and overall performances, I'd like a creative alternative to him. Curtis jones? Shaq? One needs to develop and the other seemingly can't press enough in our system consistently. Ox? Massively inconsistent and made of biscuits.

We should be riding the crest of the wave; we've just won the league, and before that the CL. We should be aiming to establish a dominance before Klopp leaves, so his successor has an easy transition.

But we're not. Weve won 5 trophies and we've spent 20m.

This is a new all time low. Either that or an absolute pinnacle in trolling. Nothing in between.

Aurier, who gets absolutely ripped to pieces by both commentators and spurs fans alike for his catastrophic defensive positioning and lack of nous is apparently not only a better defensive option than anything we already have at right back, but (as an absolute leviathan at 5ft 9) could be turned into a better CB than either Gomez or Matip, despite never having played in that position at the top level.

For. Fucks. Sake.

Now I totally understand why the teams sponsored by evil empires can afford to spend while we can't (without borrowing money) .

But how can we legitimately argue that Chelsea isn't stronger when they've signed every player that we've been fantasizing about for the past two years? The only big players left on the market are those even Chelsea couldn't afford to buy.

Stronger than last season's Chelsea, or stronger than us?
