Liverpool's Best PL team

I'm not 100% sure with the Carra selection - I feel Hyypia or Henchoz, or even Ibou at his *peak*, are better than Carra was.

Owen/Torres is debatable.

Masher over Alonso is another. I hope both can replaced by Gravenberch. He just needs to spend more years here and keep doing what he's doing.

There's a case for Rush/Barnes if you include their peak years before the PL era, but if not the options listed are all fair enough.

The question is whether you're just naming players or trying to build a team. It's like that "team of the week" column on that BBC that builds a team primarily out of the players that have scored goals.

Hyypia was one of my favourite players of that era but if you have VVD, do you really need Hyypia? I'd probably pick one of Matip or Ibou to partner VVD.

Up front Mane and Salah are non-negotiable and Suarez beats out Torres.

Gerrard, Alonso in midfield... probably completed by Fabinho, who at his best was a better / more complete player than Masher. Hopefully one of the current lot makes it into the team.

Yeah these hard to put together. For an actual team - id be swapping Torres for Fabinho and Carragher for Matip or Agger - if criteria isn't "and would be fit for a whole season"

There's something weird as fuck about a lot of these images. It is like they're almost right, but all the more jarring for being slightly off. It's like they've taken images from people who earn a few bob as look-a-likes rather than the actual player. Look at that weird grimace on Gerrard, and the Russian robot version of Alonso!

I'd forgotten he'd even played for us. I was considering Gini for similar reasons but ultimately figured Fabinho / Alonso fully releases Gerrard.

Personally I never take these things to mean building a coherent team for a game/title. It's more just recognition of excellence.

Its ironic that our two current worst players make the All Time Best Prem Liverpool. I know we are talking about peak Trent and Robbo, not them in their current form.
