Dan O'Hagan, Commentator, Bundesliga on Endo: "One of the Bundesliga’s most unsung stars. A absolute running monster, an engine like few others. Rarely wastes a pass, a natural leader and a scorer of important goals. Excelled in a very moderate Stuttgart team. He’ll be a terrific asset to Liverpool."

As an old Stuttgarter, I have a right to comment about this. People love him there in the city. It will all come down to Klopp how he uses him or tries to develop Endo even at 30. Endo might not be a world class player but a typical player you would have in your squad or starting XI to win titles. Just hoping Klopp doesn't put too much pressure on him tactically.

Probably because a cult hero is someone who achieves more than their natural and physical talents and skills suggest they should, by sheer force of will.

I mean, it's fun watching Messi and Ronaldo, but fuck them. Nothing like watching Divock Origi
Well if you like watching headless chickens running around then I can see why you would enjoy watching origi

Endo even at 30. Endo might not be a world class player
Err might not? He's not a world class player and is nowhere near.

He's simply a workhorse.. If he was as good as everyone is saying he is now he would have come to the attention of bigger clubs by now. A lot of this bullshit about how good he is simply to sell the transfer to us.
Have no issue with him, thing he would be an ideal back up just as long as we buy a back up but if this is what our transfer strstagy is them we are basically screwed as its seems we have none

I agree of course everyone is sugar coating it.
But it's worth knowing that he's only been in Europe since 2018 and unfortunately Japanese players usually don't garner that much attention.

A few points on this.

If he was shit, the rhetoric would be that this is a desperate transfer having missed out on targets, but it isn't.

I don't know how good he is. I watch the premier league and Hull City, but his stats are excellent, and those who do watch say he's a shrews piece of business. I doubt you've seen anything of him to make your opinion, so in the same light you're saying it's being sugar coated in the press, you're just using him as a stick to beat us with

Given how easy it would be for the impartial press to stamp on our necks whilst we're down, there have been a lot of people who follow the bundesliga saying they think this is a savvy signing. That's a good enough sign for me. Very easy journalism to just highlight that we're dickheads, slightly harder to write a story against current wisdom and suggest this could be a good one.

Completely agree with this. A shrews piece of business indeed! As opposed to the business of those rat bastards Chelsea.

I’m more excited by this than either Moises or Lavia…. But we do need a little younger vroom to go with him. Just to cover for injuries, no?

I’m guessing if we had of known hEndo and Fabs were going we might have kept Milner.

Anyways a pretty good pivot at current glances..

Think Klopp did try his best to keep Milner, but it was either the offer wasn't good enough or he simply wanted more playing time.

So he hasn't made much of a wave in 4 years in Germany. Would agree that Asian players probably don't get the attention when playing outside the major leagues but once you've been there for 4 years you should be a stand out in a poor side and not be seen as a well respected footballer which is just another name for a limited footballer who gives his all.
Again I'm not knocking him and I expect him to be a solid footballer who will give it 100%.

He's also not prone to injury. ...so far.

Indeed this is more Liverpool under FSG which uncovers gold dust. Some of you may have seen this already - but this person looks like he knows a bit more about him:

I was never comfortable about signing Caicedo for over 100M, or even a 19 year old for 50M, so I may have been in the minority when neither of those deals went through. Part of me does not believe we were after them for real, the intention was half-hearted on our part. Highly unusual for us to come in with a big (huge) bid like that without having months/weeks of discussions with the player/agent.

True, but he's also a DM. It's not the most fashionable position in the world.
A certain level of scepticism is obviously warranted with these kinds of transfers.
I just feel like, considering his age and the size of the fee, we can give him the benefit of the doubt.
