I just choose to look at it this way mate: In two games time we could be up to 4th with 20 left to play. City v Spurs tomorrow as well
Err, no we couldn't because Arsenal would still have 1 more point and a far better goal difference.

Is Kelly fucking fit yet or what? I really want to see him play again - he was ace against Lyon.

Mascher would be a loss, but Wigan at home is not a game we should absolutely need him for - plus it means Rafa would *have* to start Aquilani.

I know lots of you are predicting a big win, and it's certainly possible if Gerrard and/or Torres catch fire. But I just have a bad feeling that we haven't hit bottom yet, and that this will end up as another high-scoring draw, a bit like the Birmingham match. Hope I'm wrong.
We shouldn't, but we do. They're a big, physically powerful side and we'll need Mascher's steel in CM against them IMO. I'd go further and say I think we'll need him in every game until we get the winning habit back from last season (and probably even then, given the current alternatives).

It was Villa's spot we could of taken.

Ah. I was looking at the table on the bbc, and they now do that 'as it stands' thing. Even so, I think Villa were always going to pick up the points to move on up.

Unless your plane crashes onto the Anfield pitch in the 90th minute killing Torres, Gerrard and Reina instantly and throwing you clear for a soft landing on the big soft heads in the 305.
I doubt my plane will be carrying enough fuel to make it over the Atlantic.

Lucas survives in your account I presume?
Miraculously unscathed, he emerges slowly from the wreckage, and gives the ball away.

Is Riera injured?
Yup, hamstrung.

Oh, and tickets are still on General Sale for this by the way.

Tells you all you need to know.

I still expect the atmosphere to rival that of St.Etienne in 77. The Kop are going to *literally* suck the ball into the net tonight.

I'd like to see Aquilani play in Gerrard's role for the next game. Move Gerrard out to the right with Kuyt and Torres up front.

-----------------Reina

--Johnson---Carra--Agger---Insua

--Gerrard--------Mascher-----Aurelio

---------------------Aquilani
--------------Kuyt-------------Torres

You know what Glock, thats not a bad little formation that.

I cant see Rafa going for it, but I wouldnt mind seeing that myself.

I would.

Johnson needs cover, and so does Insua.

N'Zogbia would rape Insua down our left, and it'd completely qwell Glenjo's attacking thurst, which right now - is all he's doing well.

Id rather let Wigan worry about what we will do to them. With 2 up top, aquilini in the hole and Gerrard a massive danger down the right. We should batter Wigan and throw caution to the wind.

We're not going to batter anyone Mista.

A fucking scrappy 1-0, with the goal going in off Bramble's hole would do me just fine.

Look at the teams we've conceded against, and the goals they've scored this season, and many of them point to our young, inexperienced full-backs getting exposed.

Teams don't have to work hard to score against us as it is mate. We don't need to help them out even more by offering them the freedom of the flanks.

These are the sort of games I usually end up at, I've seen some corkers. Hyppia winning it for us against the might of wolves, with a few thousand empty seats at the end of the Houllier era. It's real to me damnit.

Yeah I know, just get a bit tired of having to worry so much about these crap sides.

I suppose we need a few battling 1-0 wins before we attempt to start playing teams off the park.

If we're too scared to put Johnson at RB, he should play at RW.
I said that after the Gooner loss and I got laughed at because that would mean the great Dirk Kuyt may have to start on the bench ... Oh the thought!

To be honest, I think we need go with something similar to what Glock is saying but with the balance Ryan is talking about (which is why Glen Johnson at RW would be a good idea I think (at least against Wigan)

Love it!

One bad game from Johnson and people suggests that he should be dropped - this in a home against Wigan?

What a weird suggestion.

If the players are fit this is how I'd start;

................................Reina..................................

Johnson...........Carra.........Agger..............Aurelio

....................Masher...........Aquilani....................

Kuyt........................Gerrard........................Riera

..............................Torres...................................

Marky Mark and Ozzy Osbourne amongst others?

*It was their post I commented on at least...

Think Rafa's been analysing the Wigan - Tottenham game? We play deep draw their defense out and through balls to Torres? :🙂 definitely can't start Lucas then 😀
The assumption was that Johnson was injured. See the first post of the thread.
Aaah yes, but that doesn't explain why Masher's been included in their team then... !?
