Yeah but my concern is the ol' ticker during these games. Does your pulse rate not go crazy and make you worry that yer gonna have a heart attack?

I don't wear a watch but my wife bought me one that is linked to my phone because I never hear my phone when I'm in the pub. At the start of the City game my pulse was a very normal 67 bpm but went up to 90+ at various stages during the 2 games against City!
I too just reached level 55 in my game and during the City matches I was also aware for the first time of my pulse rate. The joys of getting old. I honestly think if we are taken to penalties, any time ever again, I'm done for.

I don't think we'll get beat, which is making me feel like we will actually get beat, which is making me feel like we will win.... needless to say, my head's a fucking mess.

Yup. Didn't give a shit when we played City. It was all "Fuck Guardiola.." Now that we have a real (Even to good) chance I'm nervous as hell and don't even want to watch the first leg... I think we'll fuck it all up. needless to say I would make a really shit goalie

Towards the end of these big games I can't stay still and am constantly on the move backwards and forwards (as space allows). I was in Czech Republic for both games against City and all Czech bars like you to stay seated and provide table service. During the first game I asked my Czech friends to ask the bar staff if it was okay for me to stand towards the end of the game as I had way too much nervous energy. They were fine about it as long as I didn't obscure anyone else's view. Most of the locals were bemused by my "antics" as I was trying to head/kick every ball.

My mates couldn't understand my agony as we were 3-0 up and playing very well and I was equally frustrated that they couldn't grasp that the difference between a 3-0 win and 3-1 when you are playing the top team in Europe (arguably) was huge.

Tonight I'll be watching it in my local amongst a large contingent of LFC fans who live in Manchester so I won't be the only mong who is pacing frantically and praying to non-existent gods.

I don't even think we should win

They're a good side

Yeah, to be fair. Looking at the top sides they've beaten this year (league+CL):

Barcelona, Chelsea, Shakhtar, Napoli

And us:
Arsenal(?), Porto, City.

You have to say, only City really stand out for us. Whereas, they've taken bigger scalps.

I hated every minute of the 2 games against City (until 1-1 in the 2nd leg), it was pure agony. I remember the semi final against Chelsea in 2005, I was 42 and it was the first time I actually worried about my health during a game. When that bastard ref gave 6 additional minutes I could hardly catch my breath and when Gudjohnsen flashed THAT ball across our 6 yard box at the very end my legs went weak and I was sweating, panting, dizzy etc.

I'm 55 now, so here's my question.........@Portly @Judge Jules @Vlads Quiff etc i.e. those of my age or older...............how do you deal with the stress of these games?

I'll probably be ok tonight, but if it's still tight next Wednesday I'll be watching from the chair beside the defibrillator.

Our only hope of getting through this is a very heavy victory (or defeat) tonight rendering the 2nd game superfluous.

I don't agree with that. City are the biggest scalp among the teams you've named and would have beaten any of the sides Roma have accounted for.

I’m going to the match. My first ever European night and my ten year old lad is coming too. Not a bad European debut for either of us really.

Don’t know where we’re sat yet but we’re both really looking forward to the whole experience.

Nervous as well, like, but hopefully we’ll have too much for them on the night and give them another mountain to climb at their place.
Give the lads an extra loud cheer from me please.

My weather app says it has been pissing down all day - at least Jurgen can't complain about a dry pitch...
