LIVERPOOL v Reading (H) FA CUP replay

All Babel had to do was to play a 3 yard pass into Ngog's path and he couldn't even do that.

Shithouse. He's done fuck all since he came on.

fair point buddha but rafa has a very poor record with youngsters overall - though some players do get their chances (Insua, Lucas, Sissoko etc)

Degen's done more than enough to deserve a regular starting place at right back with Johnson (when fit) pushed up to right wing.

A bit better this half so far. Another quick goal and we'll win by four or five.

Ever the optimist :-\

I think we are watching Aquilani settle into the English game - more confident with each touch.

Yep. Good shout.
But that will mean finding somewhere else for Kuyt to play and make it difficult to introduce Maxi into the team.

If I was Pacheco I'd be a bit miffed.

1-0 up at home to Reading in the FA cup, both Torres and Gerrard (his favoured position) go off and he still doesn't get a run out. He makes a really promising cameo the other week off the bench and what happens? Dropped out of the squad the next game and then doesn't get on tonight when the chance is there.

And he has to watch the antidote to technique that is Dirk Kuyt huff his way around the pitch.

I don't think youth players can afford to get stroppy about it. I'd like to see him get on at some point, however I can only assume Benitez is looking to put Babel in the shop window. And N'gog deserves to get on the pitch given his decent scoring record this season.
N'Gog for Torres is fine but Babel for Gerrard? I don't think anyone is going to suddenly change their mind about buying babel due to 45 mins against Reading.

Pacheco needs minutes and I'd rather him get a 45 minute runout against Championship opposition in his favoured position than see Babel get a half then leave, or Kuyt play another 90 minutes of anti-football.

Aquilani's growing in confidence. We're going to have to get used to his way of playing - sometimes are players receive the ball off him and look bemused when he continues his forward run.

Games opening up a lot now. Should be too our advantage providing the ball stays away from our LB position, where Insua certainly won't be standing, and it wouldn't make much difference if he were.

I like Deadly but he epitomises Rafa. A plodding worker with no flair or pace so give Johnson a go there. As for Maxi, I'm not really arsed if he starts or not as I've not seen enough of him to agree that he warrants a place.

Maybe so, but it's clear Benitez doesn't fully trust him yet. Whilst we're only one up it's understandable he'd want the more experienced players out there. Meh.

Aquilani wants this one.
C'mon Alberto.
oh well.

Poor free kick when the the keeper was in a shit position but the wall wasn't 10 yards.

Why don't they do the spray thing for the 10 yards? It's not hard.

Spray thing? You don't mean the TV graphic?

Anyway, a Ref should be out to mark out 10 yards with his feet.

in south america they had a temporary spray they put on the pitch to mark 10 yards
Ah cool.

Although giving the Ref CS spray would be preferable.
