LIVERPOOL v Everton (A)

A funny e-mail sent in to the Guardian website while they were doing the game online...

79 min Meanwhile Ed Bottomley has some comforting words for Everton fans. "It just goes to show that it all evens itself up over the course of the season," he says. "Liverpool conceded a goal to Sunderland via a devilish deflection off an inanimate object. Today they scored via a develish defection off Joey Yobo, Everton's inanimate object. There is a little sign over Yobo's head that indicates the number of days since his last accident, today it re-set to zero."

Feillani is by no means a bad player, but Lucas made him look like Graeme Souness

The only thing missing is the moustache. The haircut is quite the same.

I thought we were lucky enough overall..
Things went our way today.. right from the first deflected goal..
On another day the linesman might not have caught the offsides...
On another day Everton should have at least scored once in the first half..

Gerrard was poor today... although even though Ngog did well... it was though for Steven to get into the game with no creativity to bounce off in front or behind him...

I thought Mash stepped up and tried to force things with some decent passes...I thought Lucas was a passenger (without doing anything wrong but not adding anything to the team)...
Yossi and Reira added a bit when they were introduced to the game...

I would have played Gerrard and MAsh in the centre with Yossi behing Ngog...
This would have got Gerrard into the game alot more and Yossi might have been more effective than Gerrard was in his position...

3 points... not very convincing... along way to go

Lovely 3 points.

Aye. Hear hear. I was at the mamak and I raised my hands and shouted when Kuyt scored, to the embarrassment of my missus and friends who have so inconveniently called us out for a drink! yeah.

So I've seen this in a few places now today...

Is it the case now that if you play an offsides trap perfectly (at long fucking last) it isn't textbook good defending, but instead riding your luck?

If so, that's stupid.

I've seen that too.

It was so obviously a case of good defending and had nothing to do with luck.

Jo went 2 yards offside. The zonal-defending for once worked out perfectly.
