Thoroughly, massively, underwhelming and coming in as a replacement for a player i really like well..... great signings should strengthen the team no?
It's not a matter of great signing, its a matter of spreading the Mascher money wisely as and when we get it.
The plan is , as I am sure you really know, cover the central defensive bit , and bring in players in other areas that we need...left back and striker. So yes we lose Mascher which I will be disapointed with too but for the greater good of the team we bring in three players that build up the squad depth and make us stronger.

Which part of the player being i) the best player in his position in the world ii) in front of the cameras apologising to Liverpool fans but reiterating his desire to move away from the UK are you failing to understand then?

EXactly it is not a matter of a great signing is it.... because it isnt. It is desperately trying to stop the bleeding, forgive me but im not very good at celebrating that, WHOOOP!! Poulsen !! get IN!!

Yeh great...

Which part of what i wrote dont you understand grjtrtj?

A decent, vastly experienced player seemingly tailor-made for the premiership.

He'll do well for us.

Let's hope Roy gets the leftover funds from the Masher sale to reinvest.

If we get Brad Jones it will be covered by any fee we get for Cavalarie so lets discount that.
If Crouch is part of it, I don't personally have a problem, but ask yourself the question is he a better option than N'gog or Dirk, and the answer is actually yes, by some way, but it won't be Crouch. A random left back?
We have to leave it up to the manager and see who he brings in, but even on the same basis as the Crouch theory, anyone we bring in is likely to be better than what we have now or had at the end of last season.

I think he doesnt understand why you keep lamenting about the terrible situation we're in.

No one's happy about it, but our option is to either mope about it or see what can be done about it.

Hodgson didnt make this shitty situation; it was constructed by many people.

But he is trying to fix things, I think.

Regardless of whether you leave the shtick about his wife, we're losing a top player and replacing him with a worse version.

If the money is reinvested, and reinvested well, then we might have a chance of not going backwards or even improving as a squad. But looking at our transfer links does not give me good grounds for optimism.

Sorry but im a proper mentalist. We need to do something with the Benayoun money and the Riera money as well, if Mash is so easily replaceable due to his limited game( he must be considering who we have replaced him with) how about getting a striker in first?

THERE IS NO BENAYOUN MONEY - try reading.

And Im not saying that Masch is easily replaceable, Im saying he has been replaced by a decent player because HE HAS STATED HE WANTS TO LEAVE.

Do you understand, or are you retarded?

I don't give a fuck about anything other than this:

We've replaced Mascherano with an older, worse player, in a vital part of the pitch.

So I don't see how it's *in any way* a good thing

Can you imagine the sheer horror of seeing the Danish Robbie Savage lining up with Lucarse?

My EYES!

Swapping Masher for a worse player

Big massive MEH from me. I don't particularly rate him. If he and Lucas are our starting CMs then I think we might struggle. Again.

The reasons are very relevant. Bemoaning the fact that we are replacing Mascher with an inferior player, and using this as some kind of evidence of impending doom completely overlooks the fact that there is absolutely nothing we could have done about it - it is not really our decision, and is not our choice.

We could have Jose Mourinho as manager and Jesus Christ himself as Chairman and Mascher would still be leaving.

What the fuck are you on about?

Yes, he's leaving. He's wanted to leave for a year.

We're still replacing him with a worse player

Perhaps Poulsen is the VERY BEST option. Which isn't likely.

But we've signed a replacement for Masher who is worse.

That's not 'a good thing' no matter how much you fucking quack on about it

Have you been spending too much time on RAWK this morning?

The impending departure of Mascherano, along with the players abilities and the price we have paid (not to mention Poulsens previous relationship with the manager) makes it a decent signing in my book.

Masher wants to leave, so what player could we get as good or better than Masherano with the money we have available, bearing in mind we need to buy a striker and left back also.

Yep. Man U had the issue when they sold Ronaldo, you can only replace the best in their position with someone worse. Now, I've seen Poulsen and I'll bow to the fact that he's worse than Mascherano.

BUT, the buigger picture is, that we don't have the money and I'd prefer improved all round strength or depth rather than spending a lot of million on his replacement. We need a competent and fit LB. We also need a competent and fit striker to compliment Torres. If we do that and spend a small amount on someone who will not play as big a aprt as Mascherano, I'll be happy.

Can we dispel the notion that Roy would even consider partnering Poulson with Lucas at the heart of midfield.

No chance.
I'm not too happy with Poulsen either but let's be honest any one is a step down from Masher.

Who do you suggest?

Defour wants to stay one more year in Belgium. Is Banega for sale? West Ham want over 10million for Parker.
We only paid 2million up front for a player who will relish the premiership. Fair enough, he isn't as good as Masher (not many are) but he isn't a crock or a liability either. I just hope that the Masher funds will be used to buy a striker and a new LB.

Sum of the part's and all that jazz springs to mind here a bit.

For all the talk of improving the squad with the Masher money, that hasn't happened yet. If and when it does, perhaps we might able to reflect on Masher going and judge how well we've dealt with it. As things stand, our midfield has been weakened.

Obviously Keni. Poulsen isn't as good as Masher. Not many are.

I think the majority are presuming it isn't the end of our transfer activity and a striker and LB will also be purchased from the Masher funds.

Only then we can asses whether the team as whole has improved.
