Liverpool related transfer speculation

How about we sign the Georgian for the LW with Gakpo, have Diaz rotate with Jota in the centre and cover Mo on the right occasionally, then we can fuck off Darwin and Chiesa and sign another forward in the summer…

Yeah, I think Diaz might follow the Mane route and evolve into a central player - there are signs that he doesn’t quite have his peak explosiveness to get away from full-backs, but other aspects of his game are improving. Maybe he can play as a #10 rotating with Szobo (especially if Elliott is sold) while Kvicha competes on the left with Gakpo. That was would be some embarrasment of riches!

Don't think Diaz is going to survive Slot. He likes his players efficient, that is why Gakpo is his number one on the left. Diaz is a makeshift CF because he has nowhere else to play otherwise.

I think Diaz and Nunez will be out this season if there are any takers and rightfully so.

Not sure I see Diaz as a 10, but agree.

It’s tough for Harvey, I think it’s just down to the fact that he’s short and gets knocked brushed aside easily to play in the Slobbers 10 or a bit deeper in midfield.

Hopefully he can develop a bit more strength, because with his lower centre of gravity he should be harder to brush off.

I still think he has a future with us and a big part to play this season - he’s kind of where Curtis was a few years back and he’s not quite found his spot in Slot’s team.

Strange, because he looked great in pre-season.

Think the lab may be for Kvaratskhelia to play as the 10 (assuming he's not just another smokescreen briefed to Ornstein)

Diaz
Jota
Darwin
maybe even Salah

Are not part of the future of this club
Long term no one is a future of the club ! The question is how long before they depart?

Diaz - 3 yrs
Jota - 2 yrs
Darwin - in the Summer
Salah - 2 years

My best guess. If we do well (PL, CL) I don't see anyone clamouring to leave. We are not a club for heavy rotation unless forced upon us and that is a fair spread.

Diaz's and Jota's contacts both run out in about two years and I don't see Edwards letting them go on a free.

They'll be in the shop window this summer especially if replacements can be found.

Yeah, but do we think Diaz deserves a massive pay rise and new contract (current to 2027), or do we sell and improve the team now?
Thats what we have to decide this summer.

Play centrally for 6 months then sell

We all know this isn't happening so no point getting excited about it. Its as good as me playing the lottery, I have a chance of winning it but its like 1 in 139m
its nice to see ornstein reporting it though. Gives me faith that its a genuine possibility that we're considering if it might be worthwhile to put a bid in

Question is, why would he move from Serie A to Ligue 1?

I like Gakpo, but we were noticeably more threatening against Spurs when Diaz came on. Could be lots of reasons for that, and Gakpo wasn't having his best game having been excellent of late, but I think we also need that unpredictability that Diaz can bring. He's a great player to bring on late on as he will run his nuts off and be direct, which is what you usually need at that stage in the game. The reservation remains his end product, but he's improved on that this year.
