Given that selection - Rafa*

Let's have a good cry together

Who did you vote for Bren?

Fuck me, I'd rather have O'Tomkins at the helm than any of those useless codgers.

But I'll vote O'Neil with a huge wad of salt.

is it who we want or who we think it will be ?

Want from that list = Roy

Expect = Rafa

None of them are very exciting prospects, but we already know that Benitez can't do the job so am prepared to take a chance on any of the others

Im going for Hodgson. If that is the list of possibilities them we have to assume that we are playing with a weaker squad than last season. I think he would be the best man to get the best it.

All very depressing though

Lerner confirms O'Neill to remain with Villa

Aston Villa owner Randy Lerner has confirmed that Martin O'Neill will remain in place as manager at Villa Park next season, following talks between the two men.

Irishman O'Neill has been fending off rumours about a possible exit for several weeks, despite guiding Villa to sixth place in the Premier League this season, as well as them reaching the Carling Cup final and the FA Cup semi-finals.

Those reports have now been put to bed with Lerner saying: "I think next year will be exciting and worthwhile and I look forward to it.

"Martin will be back next year managing. It has already been settled.

"He and I spoke on a number of occasions in person and over the phone. Yesterday (Tuesday) I dragged him out of a series of meetings with chief executive Paul Faulkner trying to get plans for the summer underway.

"We feel very good about that because it represents continuity for the players and in many other ways."

Meanwhile, O'Neill is reported to have told Curtis Davies, Luke Young, Nigel Reo-Coker, Steve Sidwell, Nicky Shorey and Habib Beye that they will be allowed to leave the club this summer if the right offer comes in.

We know Benitez isn't working here, all the signs are present this season so i would be prepared to take a risk on one of these managers on a short term basis to kickstart some life back into this Liverpool team - otherwise I really fear for us.

I'd rather choose Hodgeson out of that lot.

McLeish for me. He's proved that he can operate under the pressure that comes with a big appointment in the goldfish-bowl that is the Old Firm, rejuvenating a team that had been utterly humbled by Celtic and turning them around. Has international and European experience, which isn't bad for a youngish manager, and had a 70% win ratio with Scotland- who we all know are pretty shite. Tactical nous in spades, and if given a budget, he likes to play attacking football. Good talent spotter. A winner and leader as a player, captaining Alex Ferguson's Aberdeen team that dominated the SPL and won the Cup Winner's Cup. A good guy and all. Yes he's pockmarked and ginger, but I'd appoint him if we can't get someone like Maureen.
