He'll fall somewhere in the middle. Then the press will decide his fate.

I'm now putting all my karmic energy into attracting Capello to Anfield.

He clearly wont stay with England beyond the World Cup, has recently mastered the language, and although probably waiting for the Man U job, may be convinced to come on the back of our historic standing. Also it would put him into a head to head with Mourinho for the top spot amongst European managers (winnning the championship in all 3 biggest leagues).

Its unlikely, but I prefer the fantasy to the reality of putting up with Rafas bullshit for another 12months.
[/quote] I think Capello will be with England until the Euro's. There were strong rumours he was off to Russia, but last I heard he was staying put.

I think he'll stay till then too. He said when taking the job that it was one he'd fancied for some time, and he's made a good start. Depending on how well we do in S.Africa and then at the Euros, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Capello's still in the job come the next WC in 2014.

Me too. So should we want England to fail embarrassingly to make Capello a cheaper option, or to win the WC so he feels he can't do anything more with them?

Me Sir, me Sir, ask me Sir.

Pretty much. He's not a young man anymore, but still loves his football. The England managerial position must suit him down to a tea, even if our tax system does not!

Errrrrrrrrrrrrm, with Jamie back in the squad Im going for an England win - although shortly after the tournament kick off I will be wishing we dont when the tabloids start wanking off and flirting their muck everywhere over good Ingerlund boys like Rio and "JT".

Unfortunately its better the devil you know this time around. Rafa intends staying to try and turn things around.

I'm not holding my breath but he owes us something special and I will settle for the Premiership title.

it's absolutely crystal clear that Benitez will be here until new owners are found.

Is it really unfair to expect that we have a team capable of challenging for the league winners medal at the end of five years?

In my opinion we have been in the top three transfer spenders in all but one season in the last five years. I'm not talking about the quantum of money invested, but i think Benitez has had enough funds available to compete on top of a decent squad to start with. The squad he inherited won the Champions League.

Our performance last season was an abject failure, even allowing for all relevant excuses like injuries.

Presently we have a squad that will struggle to make top 4 in a good year. If anything we have gone backwards inspite of spending money in 5 years.

So i have three questions for the Rafa supporters.....
1. Where is the evidence that he can turn it around?
2. On what basis does he deserve one more year as some people are saying?
3. What do you think is going to happen in this one year, that can't be classified as 'more of the same'?

We need change - we can't afford it.

Hang on a minute, lets not get too doom and gloom.

Practically the same squad finished 2nd the season before with the same points total that Chelsea won it with this season.

Our worst season in a long time and we're just under the best seasons Spurs, Man City, etc have had.

The loss of Arbeloea, Alonso & Hyppia has hurt – but not 23 points worth of hurt. Gerrard’s poor form and Torres injury problems have also hurt, as has reliance on players such as N’Gog, Lucas & Insua, and lesser injuries/loss of form to Kuyt, Acquilani, Benayoun, Riera & Johnson.

We might not have a squad as strong in depth as Man City or Chelsea, but we have a first team when all are fit that can compete with any team in the land.

We also have a host of youngsters that are coming through and look like beingf able to challenge for a first team spot – Pacheco, Kelly, Derby, Ecclestone, Spearing, Nemeth, Ayala and add Shevley in there as well.

Acquilani showed some promise towards the end of the season and Jovanovic will surely add something on the left and possibly cover for Torres.

N’gog, Insua & Lucas are all young and developing players and can play anm important part in the squad as well.

The key is getting a recognized LB in, finding someone who can offer something upfront if we Torres is out and getting an adequate replacement for Alonso in the middle.

We need to have a good transfer window – but we CAN compete with the top teams on the pitch.

You say we need to have a good transfer window -

Should we be in this position, considering the money that has been spent under Rafa? Every poster in this site is highlighting that we need at least 5 or 6 new players in the first 11 and immediate bench. In my book that is a major surgery on the squad. Why are we in a position that requires major surgery? Lack of funds is not the answer. Improper use of funds and resource is the correct answer. So on what basis are we to believe that he won't be throwing away money on another Italian waster for the third transfer window on the run?

You say youngsters are coming through -

I ask again, why is next season going to be any different from any of Rafa's previous seasons in terms of using young players? He has always shown high reluctance to use youngsters, and i don't see this changing. If we are lucky we will see Pacheco cross 15 games.

The current first team and squad, if fitness, form and confidence permits can finish 4th at best. I really wish there was something to hang on to....

Well, revisiting this poll, it would appear that nearly half of us are a bit grumpy about the current situation, and nearly 23% are happy, given that Uncle Woy is favourite to take over.

Should have added Kenny to this poll

It would appear im the highly suggestable type - Any bit of positive spin and I'm all for that guy for the next 10 minutes.

I bet Redknapp wouldn't want to come north, nor would we ask him to. A pound to a penny says that's all just a plant by his agent to get a better offer out of Tottenham.
