A report in The Shite newspaper this morning claims Liverpool have entered the race for Erik Huseklepp , recently voted the Norwegian player of the year in 2009.
Huseklepp could be a shrewd buy by Rafa Benitez if he was to bring the right winger to Anfield, at just 25-years-old the Norwegian international has just had the season of his life and is ready for a higher level of football.
Liverpool face competition from a host of Premier League clubs including Wigan and Hull after previously being linked with Chelsea and Aston Villa.
The 6.1ft right winger came through the ranks at Brann Bergen, making his debut in 2005. He recorded a hugely impressive 15 goals and 10 assists in 30 games for the Norwegian side in 2009 and could beef up the Liverpool attack where he to join the Premier League giants.
Rafa Benitez may also be able to sign Huseklepp on the cheap as he only has one year left on his contract at Brann Bergen and his versatility may also appeal to Liverpool. Although he is predominantly a right-sided midfielder he can also play as an out-and-out striker.
Scouts in Norway describe Huseklepp as a player who is "full of flair and can be unpredictable. He has played as a striker a lot but lacks finishing skills, although he creates a lot on his own. At his best as a winger who can be exceptionally dangerous thanks to excellent dribbling and good crossing."
