Sorensen is a good Premiership-proven goalkeeper who'd be a splendid back-up for Reina. Fact.

Bendtner has already proved that he's a very good striker/forward. And as such a very very good option from the bench although highly unlikely as he'd want to play every week. People keep on talking about Dzeko but what has he exactly done at his age that Nik hasn't?

Nothing, is more or less the right answer here.
And Sorensen is the best keeper you would buy if you could have anyone at all is he?

I don't know a great deal about Dzeko really but in answer to your question I will go with scored more goals and won more trophies. Is that not right?
Can we at least agree that there's a gulf between doing well for Wolfsburg and doing well for Arsenal? And as Bendtner has to years on Dzeko I'm not convinced he isn't at least on par with the big Bosnian striker already.

Who would you buy as a goalie back-up to Reina?
The German league is a pretty good league though mate. And its not as if Bendtner has been setting the Premiership alight. He's done alright and might get better but your talking like he is one of the star players in England - he really isn't.

Not really thought about keepers too much to be fair. In an ideal world probably Joe Hart but then he is hardly likely to come here as back up to Reina, who is also still young. Mind you I'm not too convinced that Sorensen even would.
If we were going down the experienced keeper route I would put Mark Schwarzer ahead of Sorensen to be honest.
Schwarzer is probably a good shout he is however rather old isn't he?

Sorensen is at his best age for a goalie and I reckon he could end up at Arsenal in this window.

He's certainly not young but if you have a keeper like Reina, who is only 27, then you are a bit limited in what you can get as a back-up.

Any keeper over maybe 21 who will be happy to be back-up is unlikely to be any good, and any experienced keeper might still have ambitions to be number one elsewhere. I suspect that would include Sorensen. It would also probably also include Schwarzer to be fair although he is pushing 38 so it might see it as a decent opportunity.

As I say I haven't thought about who to get as back up keeper much though. Out of all the positions in the squad its one of the least likely to be used.

You could well be right about Sorensen to Arsenal. Why is it that Arsenal are apparently so shit at buying goalkeepers???

I can't believe we've got a 5 billion transfer fund and youse'uns are fucking debating who to get in as a replacement keeper.

We already have a better version of Milner in Kuyt, he's not worth anywhere near the figures being thrown about
I didn't kow Kuyt could play CM and was superb in that position last season.

Milner is not a superb CM, he scores about 3 goals a season

He's quite a boring player and not worth the fantasy figures

He's certainly not a Lionel Messi, Ronaldo or Gerrard, and he isn't worth 25m or whatever, but he's effective and had a very good season last year.

Proved plenty of people wrong, too.

Higuain and someone to supply him better from the midfield would be fucking epic.

Easy.

The Hig and Ozil should be the number one targets for me. Would Madrid be mental enough to part ways with him, very much doubt it.
Contraeo or Felipe (if he hasn't moved to Depor) for LB.

Muller and an outrageous move to get Alonso back to pull the strings. Masher would stay to be a part of the project, if not i'd go for Defour.

6 excellent players who would turn our team into champions. It's nice to dream isn't it?

I agree. He had a great season last year, and he's a player who is only getting better.

I wouldn't pay the big dough for him unless we win the jackpot, but if we do, we need top English talent, and he is in that bracket.

Higuain signed a new contract with Real I believe, so that's not going to happen.
Pipe dream anyway.

So we have lots of money ya? Silly money? I think i'd still be happy with just replenishing the LB and DM/CM slot.

But here is the top three things i want to do, if we had silly money.

1. Get Diego Maradona on a contract to come and do pre-match keepy-uppy to entertain the crowd.

2. Find a real estate agent and get Zidane a property at wirral. It seems he has been looking for one for ages. We should hook him up, because we can.

3. Make at least one gigantic but silly bid for one properly useless Chelsea player and one Citeh player without having any intention of buying them. Also just because we can.

Suarez for either wing, and back up GK
Rob a few of West Ham's yooves
Coentrao for LB
Milner
Onouha

I will play along!

Kaka. Diarra. Essien. Iniesta. Higuain. Drogba.
Realistic please! Barca won't sell Iniesta. Chavs won't sell Dogbreath and Essien. Kaka and Higuain are perhaps more realistic, as Maureen may decide to have a clearout anyway.
Hey if we can get Messi, we can get ANYONE!
As I said in my opening gambit, 'Obviously, we're not going to get Messi'!

We'll need a solid, balanced 25 man squad. 3 GKs, 9 Defenders, 9 Midfielders, 4 Forwards.

GK - Pepe
GK - Marchetti
GK - Gulasci

RB - Johnson
RB - Kelly
LB - Coentrao
LB - Aurelio
CB - Skrtel
CB - Agger
CB - Carra
CB - Wilson

DM - Mascher?
DM-CM - Martinez
CM - Defour
AM-CM - Hamsyk
AM - Gerrard
LM - J.Cole
LM - Jovanovic
RM - Srna
RM - Kuyt

CF - Torres
CF - Dzeko
CF - Aguero
CF - Pacheco

Id go for something like that, balance in the squad with quality running through the whole team. FUCK if only 🙁

------------------------Reina-------------------------
Johnson--------Skrtel----Agger-------Coentrao
----------------------Mascher-----------------------
----------Gerrard----Defour----Hamsyk----------
------------------Torres--Aguero-------------------

Bench: Marchetti, Carra, Cole, Dzeko, Martinez, Kuyt etc

Under the new rules that's a 21 man squad and we'd have room for 4 more Home grown players, but no foreigners.

Just felt like pointing it out, like.
There's 7 homegrown players in his squad (below)? He'd only need one more? Or am I reading something wrong about the new rules? Which 4 have you regarded as homegrown?

Gulasci
Johnson
Kelly
Carra
Gerrard
Cole
Pacheco

Let's be realistic about being unrealistic :-

We're going to play a 4-2-3-1 system and retain the following players over the age of 21 :-

Riena, Cavaleri, Johnson, Aurelio, Carragher, Skrtel, Agger, The Greek, Gerrard, Lucas, Acqualini, Maxi, Kuyt, Jovanovic, Cole, Torres.

We also assume that Gerrard is going to drop back in to a CM role and Cole will play off Torres in the "in the hole role"

So we're selling Masher & Babel and assuming Kelly, Ayala, N'Gog, Wilson, Pacheco are probably going to figure in the squad, and we can sign no morew than 5 more foreigners and we need :-

1 x LB - first choice
1 x DM - replacement for Masher
1 x LW - first choice ahead of Jovanovic
1 x striker - understudy to Torres

So... here we go :-

LB : Ashley Cole
DM : Bastian Schweinsteiger
LW : Ashley Young
Striker : Luis Suarez

We won;t sign any of them, like...

You only count as home grown over 21 and U21's don't have to0 be included in the squad as you can have as many of them as you like - so Gulasci, Kelly & Pacheco are still considered U21. and don't need to be included in the squad to be played. As are N'Gog and, technically Insua.
