Under the new rules that's a 21 man squad and we'd have room for 4 more Home grown players, but no foreigners.

Just felt like pointing it out, like.
There's 7 homegrown players in his squad (below)? He'd only need one more? Or am I reading something wrong about the new rules? Which 4 have you regarded as homegrown?

Gulasci
Johnson
Kelly
Carra
Gerrard
Cole
Pacheco
You only count as home grown over 21 and U21's don't have to0 be included in the squad as you can have as many of them as you like - so Gulasci, Kelly & Pacheco are still considered U21. and don't need to be included in the squad to be played. As are N'Gog and, technically Insua.

Reading the bbc here:

Whilst you are right about having as many of them as you like, we could still register the likes of Kelly and Pacheco as homegrown and towards the 25, meaning we'd have less space for foreigners (still) admittedly.

I'd take Defour, Bastos, Ozil, van Persie and Inietsa

English alternatives but less flashy, Parker, Gibbs, Wilshere, Defoe and Young!

But why would you?

It's simple... we can have 17 players over the age of 21 not classified as Home grown... no more under any circumstance. If we don't have 8 players over the age of 21 then we have a reduced squad of players.

We can have as many U21's as we like - no need to register.

You don't have to register 25 players.. you can register a miximum of 25 players over the age of 21. I think the BBC are misleadin there... you don't have to name 8 homegrown over21 players.... but you can't replace the 8 with foreigners...so in our case if we named six himegrown players, we'd have a squad of a maximum of 23 players + unlimityed U21's.

I totally understand what you are saying. But you are making the assumption that the ones under 21 and qualifying as homegrown would only be in my 25 to make up the numbers. I actually think the 2 of the 3 U21 homegrown listed by Zlatan above are actually good enough to make a 25 man squad (Pacheco and Kelly). Players like Insua and NGog who are part of that unlimited group of U21 homegrown players we do have, would NOT be listed in the 25, as they'd be wasting space in the squad as I don't think they are good enough.

Ultimately, I wouldn't simply sign more players (who were over 21 and homegrown) simply because we could, else we'd end up with a bigger/bloated squad and players like Pacheco and Kelly would never get a chance.

Ok i have had a think about this.

In
Krasic - RW
Ozil - LM/AM
Kacar - DM
Gareth Bale- LB (he is welsh, isn't he? Added Bonus)
Parker - CM
Fernando llorente - CF

Out
Ryan Babel
El Zhar
Insua
Degen

If im 1 player short for the home-grown rule then i wouldnt buy srna, i would buy milner instead. 8 🙂

If we do get a massive influx of cash to spend, let's start "unsettling" a fews players at Inter, Madrid, Chelsea, Man City etc...and see how they like it.

I want a powerful dominant centre half, as I think Carra may struggle this season, Agger is ingury prone and I'm not convinced about Skrtel.

Then some young attacking talent, that will give us goals, pace and more drive in the team.

Benzema
Muller
Auguero
Defour
David Luiz

You are all nuts.

It will be :-

.............................Reina

Johnson ......Carra ....... Agger ........ Wang

.................... Liu ......... Gerrard

Zhu ...................Cole ................... Yang

.................... Torres

I don't envisage a massive spending spree no matter who comes in.

At the end of the day our wage bill needs to be around 50-60% of turnover and our most recent figures had it at 105/185 meaning it was at 56%. There isn't much room for additions unless we plan to put ourselves in difficulty for 2012.

Yes. i am sure that financing any new stadium will involve a certain level of debt to someone.

Whoever buys the club probably won't just be some loon with unlimited cash that he wants rid of.

I can't believe we've got a 5 billion transfer fund and youse'uns are fucking debating who to get in as a replacement keeper.
Exactly. Lets rotate the keepers we have in the squad...they would end up one game each on the bench.

I haven't read the thread (sorry) but has Robben been mentioned? He'd really give us another dimension, and after his comments regarding Gerrard, Torres and Cole, I'm sure he could be tempted to leave Bayern. Buy Ozil too, and we could have...

Gerrard - Mascherano

Robben - Ozil - Cole

Torres

or

Mascherano

Robben - Gerrard - Cole

Torres - Ozil
