Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Portsmouth star Niko Kranjcar.
Spurs back to signing overrated bags of shite. Great!
Backup for Modric?
Well Hello Binny - bit late for you my friend (and me). Kranjcar is a quality player.
Heyo mate! Yeah. For a top 6-8 team, he'll be a good player to have in the squad, esp if its @ a decent price.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have completed the signing of towering striker Stefan Maierhofer from Rapid Vienna.

That's the guy who's 6' 7" and scored against Villa this week.
It was the other one who scored against Villa Froggy

Liverpool and Arsenal's hopes of agreeing a deal to sign Rafael van der Vaart were dealt a blow today as the player revealed his desire to stay at Madrid.
The Dutch winger who has been linked with Liverpool and Arsenal in recent weeks was expected to leave the Bernabeu, given that first team opportunities are likely to be limited since Ronaldo's arrival in Madrid.
Van der Vaart also had to contend with trying to get past his fellow Dutchman Arjen Robben; however with the ex-Chelsea man opting to move to Bayern Munich, it appears that the 26 year-old is prepared to give it one more shot at the Bernabeu and fight for his place.
Van der Vaart's representative, Robert Geerlings, speaking to Voetbal International:
"It's official, Rafael will stay at Real Madrid."
"At the meeting Rafael was urgently requested to stay at Real,"

"The squad has been decreased to 25 players and that made them decide that Rafael doesn't have to leave anymore.
"For us, it was very surprising, and Rafael has decided to fight for his place in Madrid."
Van der Vaart made 32 league appearances for Real last season scoring 5 times, following last season's move from Hamburg.

Didn't somebody on here think that at £13mil Zaki would be a good signing for us?
DreamBeliever.

BTW, 3M for Kranjcar is an absolute steal.

I can't believe more clubs aren't interested at that price.

He has excellent awareness, touch and control. He lacks pace but he quick feet can get him away from defenders. Weren't Arsenal not linked to him last season for a silly fee. Over 12million or something?

3 million is a steal when you see what other players go for.

Apparently he has a worrying injury record, but still.

Yep, 5pm.

Reports in Holland suggest Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink is attracting interest from the Premier League.

The 30-year-old striker is currently a free agent after leaving Celtic at the end of last season.

It is claimed Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers are both interested in the Dutch international.

FC Twente are said to have made a move for Hesselink, but it is suggested he is keen on a switch to England's top flight.

We could do worse than this guy as back-up. And Rafa does like frees.

OK now I'm just getting desperate to see a back-up striker on the books.

Everton are to make a late bid to hijack Portsmouth midfielder Niko Kranjcar's move to Tottenham. (Mirror)

INFO: An extension to the transfer deadline of 5pm can only be applied for with transfers between overseas clubs and English clubs. So not internal moves after 5pm.

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes is aiming to be reunited with David Bentley after launching a bid for the Tottenham midfielder. (Various)

He's boss on Football Manager.

I'd be happy to get a couple of bodies in before 5pm.
I've resigned myself to the fact that we won't be doing any business today or in Jan.
Thanks a lot Markmc.
