from Josef on TLW:

The story claims that he [Jakub Blaszczykowski] is close to joining us for 10 million euros in the coming days (which we'd have been well-advised to complete before the pound went through the floor, if the story's true). It would be a transfer record for a Polish player, eclipsing the 9.7 million euro we paid for Dudek. Part of the fee (they estimate 2 million euros) will go to Wisla Krakow, Kuba's former team.

Here's the original story:

I'll get his name on the back of the kit if we sign him.

That's value for lettering 😀

Blaszczykowski 😉

You pay by the letter here, that will probably fund his transfer 😉

Actually he reminds me a bit of Arshavin. I think his best position ultimately will be up front just off Torres but he is very comfortable playing wide right. He has pace but is not electrifyingly quick.

i know what you mean. he's pretty much a playmaker, likes to make defense splitting passes around the box. i wonder, besides pennant, who else will be sold in january. i didn't expect us to be in the market.

I hope he doesn't pull faces or moan when asked to play in a different position or be subsituted. Because, if he does, even if he's brilliant, he'll be gone by the summer.

Great, another expensive player that doesn't score goals.

I hope not.
he's just gonna be a pennant upgrade. he's not top class but he'll be much handier to have around than pennant and will only cost us about 3 mill more.

BRILLIANT IF TRUE!

you have probably seen him more than anyone here?

The only stuff I know about him comes from some of the guys on here, and most if it is extremely positive. Lets hope Parry can seal the deal.

We are not spoiled with Polish-posters I reckon so maybe so.

I have not watched him that much to be honest but in those three or four games I've seen of late he has looked like exactly the kind of player you'd love to see roam up and down the right wing.

Fast, trickery, balanced (albeit small in stature he doesn't seem easy to trip over - a bit like Messi staturewise actually) and got an eye for goal too. One of the first games I watched him play (and knew who he was because of the Liverpool-link mind) he scored an absolute beauty of a goal - against Bayern Munich - created it and then blasted it into the top corner. Brilliant.

He's rep in Germany let alone Poland is massive and I really do think he's the kind of player that could move our fans a tad closer to the edge of their seats.

That really would spell the end of Robbie Keane then......?
Not at all. He's a winger. Or wing-back.

I've a feeling (if we sign him) you might be pleasantly surprised Skully, I think he is far superior to Pennant and could give us what Robbie Keane was supposed to have given us i.e. creativity.

His style of play is like that of Valon Behrami who plays for West Ham.

An attack minded player.

Though I agree about the 'pleasant surprised' part I think you're dead wrong with regards to where's going to be played.

They are both small players yet hard to knock over. Kind of fast too. And Argentinian.

Wait.. Polish... no.

Footballers!

Does he have any skill or is he just another hard worker?
i don't think he's particularly skillful, although khl thinks differently and has seen him play 3 more games than me.

He's called 'The king of assists' apparently

Skilled hardworker.

He actually looks quite skillful to me. Can ghost past players and his first touch is probably 50% better than what we've been used to of late on our right-hand side. (No offence Mr. Kuyt).

Just showed the article to one of our Polish girls in the office and she says that in the article is says that Borussia have agreed the €10m fee - it's a steal if you ask me.

So long as Kuyt has 2 functioning legs, i don't think he'll ever get dropped by Rafa. We should expect this Kuba fella to be playing on the LW or RB.

Seems a mix of Riera (good first touch. not afraid to take people on, likes to attack from the wing) and Yossi (can provide a killer pass in the box - although Yossi is taking way, way to many touches this season).

And he has two functioning feet.

Looks like he would fit well either on the right, left or behind Torres.

Encouraging....
