Since it's the buying season, let's assess his record with us after two windows. Breaking it into four categories. He's improved previous signings for sure. While every manager makes some poor signings, so far it seems Klopp has an above decent record with new signings. No Christian Poulsens...

World Class (hard to get)
None

Great Addition
Mane (considered by some, the number 1 signing at the time of posting)
Matip (Pat says he gets injured too much and he's not as good a signing as a result)
Klavan (No negative vibes yet from the restless SCM'ers)
Georginio Wijnaldum ( up there with Mane potentially)

Decent Plodder
None

Questionable
Karius (may change, doesn't look good)

What were we thinking?
None

Unknown
Manninger
Grujic

He's also sold or put on loan for future sale 21 players (what a clean out). It's early days, but it seems like a lot of solid signings. 80% successful as it looks now, but we're still "honeymooning" with some of these players.

He hasn't done much business on the Liverpool side, but he did buy some duds during his stint at Dortmund. Ciro Immobile is one name... It could be argued that he worked with a Director of Football there, though. What is obvious though is that he seems to be hardheaded regarding valuation of a player and he actually means it. In the circumstance that we somehow do manage to sign Pulisic, would that be under world class category or great addition?

Definitely not a world class signing at the time, but could be, down the road..

I don't know why karius is a terrible signing, he's young and played how many games here? id put him in some sort of unknown category.

100% agree, he should be in a Jury's out category rather than Terrible.

Mane is the obvious standout, but he was hardly a surprise and he did cost £30m.

Certainly there's been no massive, expensive disappointments like Carroll, Markovic, Sakho, Aquilani, Diouf, Allen, Balotelli. Yet.

Agree with most of that except Karius. He isnt a terrible signing. Young/jury still out type signing as others have said.
And if it doesnt work out he cost us 4,7 mill £.

Karius and Grujic (who isnt on the list) should be in the same young/jury still out/for the future category.

Klopp's record is pretty good so far. He seems clear as to what he is looking for and what he's prepared to pay. There haven't been any signings which have left us scratching our heads as to how the player in question will fit in (e.g. Balotelli) or seem to directly contradict a previous transfer out (Benteke/Carroll). So far also there's been a complete absence of shite being used to fill up the squad (far too many examples to mention).

Great points - it's a wider improvement
  1. All your points above
    PLUS
  2. youth being used and brought through
  3. Previous signings coached into being highly improved
  4. Loaning out players in doubt
  5. Selling players not up to it
  6. Marginalizing players with questionable antics
  7. No gash/rash signings.

Karius is his only failing so far given he was clearly meant to be first choice. There's still time with of course. We can have little complaints although I do think we could have kept hold of Allen or signed another midfielder and winger in the summer. Our bench looks very weak at times.

I think your categorisation needs adjustment if you are lumping Klavan, Matip and Mane into together.

Mane has been the stand out.

Matip needs to sort out his injuries or he'll end up being a meh signing.

No point having a quality defender if he's injured (much like Sturridge in that regard)

I seem to recall he had a poor injury record in Germany too or did I imagine that?

Name me a player with a 100% clean injury record.

Tough Crowd pat!

He's a good player regardless. He's no Kyrgiargos!

Post Edit - Caveats and Stratifications added !

No, he only had one long-term injury in 2014, other than that he almost never missed a game.

You cant take Dreamys input about Matip seriously. A potential meh signing? Fucking hell. For Dreamy's sake I hope he stops with the ketamine when posting.

Matip has been one of the top transfers this season. He's boss!

I know, I think he's been great (Matip). Pat's off his game of late - tough crowd.

Read before responding, I clearly said if Matip continues to be injured more often then he could end up being a meh signing as a class player who not reliable is useless.

Like Sturridge.

If Matip stays fit he looks like he could become a star for us.

Just to clarify Dreamie.

Sturridge is a "meh signing" and is useless.
