The King is dead, long live the King!

Maybe insensitive on the day the news is released but I'm sure we'll all get behind the new management team.

And thank you Jurgen for being a great man and a great manager. I wish you and the rest of the current management team all the best in the future.

Like we all managed to rally behind Woy when he became gaffer? There's not much reason to be optimistic about the owners getting this right with how they've been handling things lately.

Does anyone actually know any LFC fans who don't like him? I used to work with one who couldn't stand him. Scouser and a season ticket holder for donkeys years - she didn't just not like him, she actually stopped going to the game because of him.

She might be the only fan in the world who's actually happy today. The crazy bitch.

They wouldn't be called "fans" then would they? Those people could jump off a bridge for all I care.

I got my kids stomach bug last night and spent hours with it just streaming out of both ends and laying on the floor of the bathroom shivering and sweating.

I wake up and see this and im absolutely exhausted and I am surprised to say it made me start crying and I had to turn it off.

I respect him so much and I'm sure this is the right decision for him.

I need someone to help me make sense of this...

Better to die the hero than live to become the villain.

Best ever manager? He’s in the discussion when you take the cheating City cunts into account.

ive a mate back home he hates him and wants him out. Not good enough as we haven’t won the league every year. Bellend

The video is a tough watch, but as ever Klopp comes across as honest, good hearted and clear-minded.

He’s emotionally intelligent enough to make the tough decisions and act upon his intuitive knowing that burnout is around the corner. It’s the right decision for him and for us, as painful as that is for all involved.

Just saw the news while riding on a bus in the Indian countryside. Shell-shocked at first, then teared up… genuinely the saddest I’ve felt for a long time. But also feeling inspired once again by Klopp and how he handled it.

I think his explanation is honest - he is not one to shirk from a challenge, I believe last season took a lot out of him, but like a true epic hero he still gathered the strength to win his last battle (put the club back on the right track) before succumbing to his wounds/mental exhaustion. As for the timing, keeping it under wraps would been a burden for him and the club the longer it went on and I’m sure as a manager whose entire motivational approach is based on honesty, he couldn’t talk to potential new recruits for next season and tell them “I want you to come play for me,” knowing it was not the truth. The relative lull in the season after a short winter break and between 2 domestic cup games seems like as good a timing as was realistically possible.

Also have to admit this news made me just a little bit angry at Pep and the fucking cheats in Manchester and the useless bureaucrats in charge of football that cannot hold them to an account. This man deserves more trophies than he got and let’s hope we can at least partially make up the gap this season.

Thank you all for sharing your emotions too - sending big Klopp hugs to everyone. I read the first 4 pages and had to stop because it was just too much all in one take… Now on with the journey.

I can’t help but think the owners caused this by not having the full compliment of support staff at all times and identifying he was getting worked to the bone. Jorge was too little too late.

Glad I'm not the only grown man who's been genuinely rocked by this news... Haven't actually cried (yet), but tears have been blinked back. Silly, but I don't care.

Broke up with my partner of 6+ years last weekend, too.

This is fun, huh?

Going back to bed. Until August.

Competing with city’s limitless resources requires extraordinary work effort and intelligence to even get close. There’s just no room for error. I’m surprised he lasted this long - it requires a workaholics existence and then there’s still no guarantees.

Once in a lifetime manager. Danke Jurgen

I generally don’t get too upset for long over football and didn’t think I’d cry about this.

I cried in 1988 as a 16 year old when Ireland got knocked out of the Euros. And again today. He’s just someone who you’d want as a brother and friend. In a world of shite male role models, he’s the first male leader I’ve ever really looked up to.

Great post @rurikbird , have to agree on all the serious points you have raised, I also think that last season pretty much added an extra season to him mentally, as the team were just legless for what 25 games and the inconsistency must have killed him inside with every game. But amongst all that we still smashed up United 7-0 !!!! something that we will never forget (nor will any United fan).

Yeah that whole Man City cheating thing is a big major factor in us not winning more under him, but our ownership also needs to be held to account - especially that season where Lovren got sold and we replaced him with no one that same summer, and also not recruitment of any worth when we did win the CL and PL.

Sad and scary day hearing this news, sad because of all the memories under Klopp, scary because you don't know the impact of the new potential manager. We know better than United / Arsenal who have been learning about replacing a title winning managers, because for us the PL era and living it to challenge for it only really began with Klopp.

I can't explain to my team that my head is empty because of this because there's no way they'll understand so I'm just zoning out and nodding my head. Curious to see the reaction from fans (surely the players knew!)

Imagine there's no Jurgen,
Might even make you cry,
No hugs for players,
Or fistpumps at full-time,

Imagine all the Kopites,
Wishing that he'd stay...
