I said pretty much the same thing over the phone however my passion and enthusiasm for this publication came across in my voice, something that cannot be manufactured or faked.

Yes, you do come across as quite the livewire

The possibility of Kenny becoming our manager again reminds me of one of my first jobs.

I spent a year at an advertising firm selling space because I wanted to get good on the 'phone before moving into my career as a financial advisor. I worked on publications for Rangers and Celtic, Wigan and Widnes rugby clubs etc and sold my fair share as part of a group of 8. I was very excited when the firm announced that we were going to produce a LFC wallchart with advertisers around the perimeter, so much so that I sold EVERY SINGLE space.

I said pretty much the same thing over the phone however my passion and enthusiasm for this publication came across in my voice, something that cannot be manufactured or faked.

A manager has to sell the importance of playing for his team and their fans as well as his own philosophy on football. All the money in the world cannot buy the passion and enthusiasm that Kenny has for Liverpool. He's won the League four times in management and shares a quality that Mourinho also has, players want to play for him.

One other thing - the atmosphere at Anfield these past few years has been rather drab and there probably won't be much of a change should Roy be appointed. Imagine the knock on effect to the players witnessing Anfield thundering the old Dalglish! Dalglish! chant for their manager?

Nice post, However Passion can be pretty much confused with overselling, when it comes to selling advertising space

'Publication will reach thousands upon thousands of Liverpool fans' when in a actual fact 500 publications where probably printed,

been there done that lol

Yes, but, but, err, well thousands of fans will see those 500 wallcharts!

That's a great post Wilko. Fair point made.

I think it's obvious it's Roy or Kenny, and I can see the reasoning behind both, but my heart wants it to be Kenny for the reasons you've highlighted. If it doesn't work, let's face it, it can't be any worse than the low points of the last year.

Thanks, Mark. It's been a long time since I enjoyed anything about Liverpool. Kenny being installed as our manager would make be very happy indeed.

Could Roy Hodgson Be Actually Staying At Fulham And Not About To Leave For Liverpool?

I just saw this exclusive article from the Fulham Chronicle I wanted to share. According to Paul Warburton's article, Roy Hodgson is proclaiming he is not about to leave for Liverpool and also has not had discussion with anyone associated with the team at Anfield. According to the Fulham Chronicle, Roy Hodgson is not intending to leave Fulham.

Paul Warburton's story also claims to have a very reliable source that has ties to the Fulham manager. I have comments below from this source that comes from the Fulham Chronicle article regarding Roy Hodgson and Liverpool.

The source said: "No one from Liverpool, or connected with them has spoken to Roy – and he is mystified by all the conjecture over the last few days."

For fans of Fulham this could be excellent news. I have a feeling though there still could be stories regarding Roy Hodgson and possible interest from Liverpool. I will be continuing to update this story when information becomes available.

that's because the snake hasn't picked up the phone.

he prefers to brief the press for days on end before he slithers in and makes his move.

The new Liverpool way; the way of a backstabbing, lying and conniving board

Wilko makes a convincing argument.

And it's interesting/not surprising that Rebel is completely oblivious to Rafa's use of the media while criticising Purslow's.

He gets more and more mental, which is entertaining.

You've never bothered me much before - not sure why?

But this whole snake thing, we get it now. Do you have to keep on repeating ad naseum, its really rather dull.

Seems like a troll job as opposed to the usual headwandery. At least to me.

I really don't care.

Until the club is sold, and some reasonable new owners are in place, any managerial appointment is just putting lipstick on a pig.

I think we should still expect to challenge to a CL place at the very least. We were far better than last years showing because injuries and tactics held us back.

I'm still optimistic about the state of this football club. The worst is over, that's for sure.

How?

The perception is that the sacking of Rafa was not what most Liverpool fans want, surely the club won't make another appointment that they think is unpopular with the fans.
[/quote]

There's no reason why they have to care at all.

No reason why they have to care about potentially alienating their principal source of revenue? Can't agree with that, though I don't believe for a minute that letting Rafa go will actually have that effect.

How will you feel when Hodgson is the manager, and Gerrard, Torres, Mascherano and Johnson have all been sold?

I'll have a pint of whatever you're on.

ten years, ten weeks, ten minutes its only time and it makes no difference. the truth is if you look at hodgson and look at his team, its the embodiment of how shit football has become in the last ten years. dalglish is not infected by the filfth of modern football. what i think is he's from a time when the likes of lucas where not considered to be professional footballers. that can only be a good thing

Liverpool FC legend John Barnes says whoever succeeds Rafa Benitez as Liverpool FC boss will enjoy a "win-win situation" - whether it's Roy Hodgson or Kenny Dalglish.

Benitez parted company with Liverpool FC by mutual consent last week and speculation continues over the contenders to step into his shoes at Anfield.

After guiding Liverpool FC to a remarkable Champions League triumph in 2005, success slowly dried up while relations with the club’s American owners soured, culminating in his recent departure and subsequent appointment by Inter Milan.

A lowly seventh-placed finish in the Barclays Premier League last season was the lowest of his tenure and Barnes believes the next man in will benefit from the bar being set so low.

The former league and FA Cup winner said: "Whoever comes in will finish better than seventh, regardless of whether there is money to spend.

"To be honest, I would like there not to be money to spend because if there is, it means you have sold Gerrard or Torres. So under those circumstances, I’d rather have no money!

"A manager coming in has to be prepared to work in those circumstances, knowing that Liverpool will finish higher than seventh. So it’s a positive thing.

"Even with no money to spend, if you finish fourth you have done better than last year. The same if you finish fifth or sixth, you have still done better.

"It’s a win-win situation. I hope Liverpool fans don’t expect a manager coming in saying ’we’re going to finish first or second’ and I don’t think they will."

As for the names in the frame, Barnes insists he has no strong opinion. However, he believes both former Liverpool FC boss Dalglish and Fulham boss Hodgson are well qualified.

"Is it going to be Kenny Dalglish or Roy Hodgson? Who knows?" he said.

"Both would do a great job, there are lots of good managers and whoever it is will have to be a proven manager so they won’t get the decision wrong.

"If Kenny wants it, why not Kenny? If it’s Roy Hodgson I’m sure he’ll do a good job as well."

As for Benitez, Barnes added: "It does not surprise me that Rafa Benitez has gone to Inter, because he is a good manager.

"He’s proven that and his stature has not gone down, in my opinion. You don’t become a bad manager overnight. But obviously it didn’t work out in the last year so he left."

Fulham Accept Hodgson Departure

By Kevin Markey Wednesday, 16th June 2010

Fulham have accepted that Roy Hodgson will leave to join Liverpool it has been revealed.

The Mirror says sources at Fulham confirmed last night they have lost all hope of holding onto Hodgson.

A Liverpool board meeting on Friday has rubber-stamped a move for the experienced manager, and formal contact is expected to follow.

Fulham are aware of that interest, and after talks with their manager before he prepared to fly out to the World Cup, they are now resigned to losing him.

Talks over a contract, security of tenure should there be an Anfield takeover, and size of budget will proceed over the next week, and an official announcement could be made by next Wednesday or Thursday if agreement is reached.

Hodgson has spoken to his Fulham board, and conceded that he would find the offer to manage at Liverpool too hard to turn down, despite his affection for the Craven Cottage outfit.

Liverpool are ready to double his contract and also provide massive bonuses for a top four finish, which is the minimum requirement this coming season.

It would explain alot regards the delay on appointing anyone, given his commitments at the World Cup.

I still would prefer Kenny.
