Maradona is probably the best player to have ever worn the Barca shirt. But he wasn't their best player...

Real Madrid's best player has to be Di Stefano. 8 titles and 5 European Cups (plus scored in every final). Puskas and Raul probably follow.

Im not saying Di Stefano wasnt amazing like, ive never even seen him play, but i bet he wasnt as good as Zidane........maybe your right though, i mean Zidane only played their for about 5 years, maybe you have to be somewhere near enough your whole career to be their best ever player?

I dunno, its a tough one. Theres a line between THE BEST PLAYER to play for you ever or YOUR best ever player. Like i couldnt see Maradona as Barcelona's best ever player even though he probably was the best player to play for them, but i just think they (madrid) had Zidane long enough for it to be not just one but the other.

Tough to say, especially as i never saw Puskas or Di Stefano.
Im sticking with Zidane.
 
I remember watching Zidane the last couple years he was at Real and thinking "meh" half the time.

I've never really seen Di Stefano either aside from some clips, but that was a defining era for Real Madrid and helped establish the club they are today.
 
Players generally are remembered for being instilled in the ethos of the club as well as having successes with them. It's like that player defines the club. IT's hard for us to do this for other clubs as we have no real attachment other than "he was bloody good" as our objectivity comes into it. Unfortunately these threads are always best reserved for subjective opinions
