With all due respect, I never get the need to praise footballer interviews. Hardly any groundbreaking stuff there and most interviews are rehashed scripts innit? Other than the odd interviews, footballers are hardly going to say anything enlightening.

Karius might've well stood up and beat his chest screaming "FUCK YAS I AM ZE BEST GOALKEEPER IN ZE WORLD!" and we still won't know better until we see him play a few games.

A bit harsh IMHO. Nobody's expecting groundbreaking content in such an interview, but it's worth noting when the player expresses himself well and comes across as a sensible, grounded individual rather than a monosyllabic cliché-peddler as so many of them are, and all the more so when English isn't the player's first language (which applies to most British players too, do I hear you say?).
