That's beside the point, the fact that Riise's replacement is a woeful player, didn't suddenly make him a top player for us.
Riise wasn't very good, and it was the right time to sell him.

If we got a player who was better than him, yes.
We somehow managed to sell Riise for 3 million but bought Dossena for 7 million; or if you likepaid twice as much for half as good (and that's being generous).
Do you actually have a point?

Riise needed replacing then, cos in his last two seasons for us, he was the weakest point in our then superb defence. He was the reason we got knocked out of the CL.
It was down to Benitez and his team of scouts to find a replacement for Riise. They failed. That doesn't make people who thought that Riise needed replacing "idiots".

I don't think you're an idiot for wanting to replace him, I think you're an idiot for your lack of respect to a player who had a very good Liverpool career and played a big role in bringing plenty of silverware to this club.

Whatever.

Good insightful reply Mike. Anway, Johnny Rockets hadn't been playing playing well for us for a while, but I wish we had him now. As for blaming him for being knocked out of the CL, that's a bit much. Yes, his OG was a fuck up, but so was the penalty Sami gave away in the next leg, as was the ease with which we left Chelsea through for their second goal in extra time.
