Just Chilling Watching Liverpool.....

Said me fucking never. I always have panicked watching us, always feared the England Cricket team-esque collapse. But my heart isn't racing with fear as I watch us now. Even against Wolves, who really pushed us, I didn't worry. That big fuck-off cushion helps, but there's such a formidable spine to this team, and an amazing commitment, I just don't fear. The forwards all tackle and track back. The midfield are utter workhorses. The defenders are all quick and their attacking proclivities are covered by the generational talent of Virge. Behind him, is the fucking wall that is Alisson. It just feels, not easy, but inevitable. I don't think we'll finish invincibles, because Klopp will prioritise elsewhere when we win the league, which we must do. But this team could do it.

The big cushion doesn't help me. I wake up sweating at the prospect of seeing it gradually whittled away. I thought before January how great it would be if we could reach the end of the month with only a small dent in our lead. We have increased it, despite a number of injuries and a demanding sequence of games. But it is not enough! My next goal is to see us with a 1.5 point lead per game remaining. We could make that this weekend. Won't be enough. If we can win our way through February I might relax a little.

I call you but will not raise. It is fucking strange cause the quest for the League has been so desperate for so many years. Filled with hope, normally before the season start, and trust that we were on to something. But this season there is no doubt. There is no looking over the shoulder even. We just brush everything away and the league was done and dusted long time ago. We just pretend it is not won. And as a courtesy to us fans the team keep up winning. Nothing else. Victory by victory. We don’t know this team by anything else. It is surrealistic. And we will get straight back to moaning Monday when we hit a bad patch with a couple of draws. That's how it is.

We dont ever do anything the easy way.
Which makes me wonder just what the hell is going to go wrong and how we're going to throw this away.

I completely agree with remaining humble and not assuming the remainder of the season will go as smoothly as we'd like however, at the same time, it seems insulting to not have faith in Jurgen and his magnificent team to finish the job.

Another thing I love. It is the team that has been formed. Not one of them were prima Donna and top world class players before they arrived. Now we have the best team in the world. Astounding. Love it.

We need to win 8 more. We have 7 home games. Citeh will surely drop some points so it's in the bag guys.

We should really aim to go "Invincibles 2.0", it will add a real shine to this team.

Let's not forget that gold badge or something they awarded to the previous invincibles.

A massive kick in the nuts must surely only be around the corner now.

But in a perfect world where Liverpool just cruised to trophies and didn’t deliver crushing disappointment I’d quite like to take City’s beloved “Centurions” record away from them.

They are barely getting out 2nd gear.

And now I barely get out of 2nd gear.

There used to be a time when I'd wake up 5am for a 5.45am kick off (Oz time) and watch the game on the tv and be on edge for 90 mins.

This morning I just streamed the game on my phone in bed, drifting in and out of micro sleeps for 90 mins.

I'm really looking forward to finally sing this bit with full conviction and gusto...

"...At the end of a storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark..."

I think it's safe to say that we're finally at the end of a very longggggg storm. In fact, i reckon it's already past when we won the CL last year.

Even @Halmeister has to concede and take off his Nostradamus hat and get ready to put on his party one instead.

This should help :

We're doing it the hard way game by game. We haven't been sweeping teams aside, just outworking each and every opponent and doing enough to be worthy of the points.

Nah that's too simplistic. It's akin to opposition fans being mystified as to how we win so many with 'just running around'.

Watching us play you can see the intricacy of passing, the quality of runs and through balls, the defensive setup and nouse, to say nothing of exceptional ability on the ball and the number of good opportunities we create so that by sheer weight of numbers we'll score more than the opposition by the end of the game (averaging nearly 3 goals per game at home and 2 per game away, and defensively it's close to just 0.5 conceded per game away).

All of the above we do better or much better than the vast majority of our opponents.

To say we just 'outwork' opponents (I know that's not exactly what you meant) doesn't do justice to the players or the manager.

You're right, I'm being blasé.

I don't know who's going to beat us like. Maybe City and a draw or two here or there. But that's it. The pace we have at the back is ridiculous. What an advantage to have. Gomez can recover by eating up the ground and Virg is always standing in the correct position. I enjoyed two recent example lately. One was Adama Traore shooting from outside the box as even he didn't want to take on Van Dijk down the line. Second one was poor Snoodgrass the other night. He was literally shepherded away from danger as if a big fuck off bouncer corralled a harmless drunk with his shopping out of the pub. We then have Alisson Becker who patrols his box like a Zero Dark Thirty, black ops seal just waiting for the nod to join in on the action. No fuss, get in, job done, out before anyone notices.

We can also go up through the gears when needed. The team now knows that a goal will come. Late goals against Villa, Sheff United, United, World Club championship, etc have thought us this. We'll find a way.

We are winning the league and CL. Who's gonna beat us?

Of course football only did start in 1992 what happend before that never existed

Though I don't think anyone achieved it in so few games

I tend to be calmer in the build up to the games now, but once they've kicked off, I'm back to normal, and every feckin' kick is life or death...

I sat with a few guys that started moaning and complaining from first minute yesterday. Not enough movement, to slow on the ball, boo hoo this and boo hoo that. In a game where the first opponent was around 30meters into his own half.

Nope.

The collapse will be epic, and no Liverpool fan will be able to show their face in public ever again.

I thought we took the piss last night

Passed the ball along the half way line or deeper for a good 30/40% of the match, knowing we would get goal scoring opportunities, worked perfectly against a deep sat and largely shite west ham side devoid of any counter attacking intent

I think the Wolves match has been the only match since cityvinnthe first 5/10 minutes where I've been thinking ok , we might drop points here
