I think it's sad, shows a lack of confidence in the management and if he goes to someone like Man Utd instead we'll also look like massive twats. It's a horrible, horrible precedent.
 
I have a strange feeling in my waters that we'll get this guy a proverbial rabbit out the hat just before the deadline.
 
Mata has been linked with a move to the Emirates since starring in the European Under-21 Championships, but talk of a Premier League switch was quashed by his current club 10 days ago when president Manuel Llorente explicitly claimed, "Juan Mata is not for sale".

However, the La Liga club, who cashed in on David Villa and David Silva last summer, now appear willing to back-flip on that stance should the right offer come for Mata.

"The possibility exists that Mata will leave the club," Valencia manager Unai Emery told Marca.

"We want him to stay and Mata has also expressed his desire to stay at Valencia, but at the same time we cannot stop a player who really wants to leave for money or for a bigger club. So, if there is a large financial offer from any club, that is good for both us and him, we will have to let him leave."

Tottenham and Liverpool are also believed to be interested in the winger, but Arsenal's potential to offer Champions League football next season is understood to put the Gunners as frontrunners for Mata's signature.

Not sure that the phrase defensive midfielder is in KK's vocabulary at the moment. I think he sees a midfielder as just that,, able to get up and down the pitch and mix and match

I dont think we need a DM Ossi. We have plenty of players who can do a job there. LB is more of a priority but again I think we'll manage with what we have. Would love us to get another exciting attacker and Mata fits the bill.

I'm sure we wouldn't have bought Downing if we were going to pay for Mata..... but obviously Mata isn't fit to lace Downings boots :🙂

I think he'll just use Lucas when he feels he needs one (not that he's got much steel, but anyway). It doesn't look like we'll be buying one. Possession is the key it seems. Good stuff.

We have around a gazzillion midfielders!! If he needs another dm then just don't send wee jay out on loan, we dont really need to splash the cash in that area.
 
Back to the mata at hand...

My prediction: Within the next week, we will find out where Aguero is going, or if he's staying for that mata.

If we don't sign Sergio, we will sign Mata.

This was the signing we could of pulled out of the bag but not looking likely..
 
Its from the Mirror though. And now all of a sudden the release clause is 17 mill £.
Sounds veeeeeeeery strange.
