I thought your posts reached a nadir recently with that abortion of a thread last week which was mercifully locked, but perhaps there is worse to come

Embarassing? Me? Riiiiight...
Which one of the two of us is hoping we lose tomorrow? Here's a clue... It's not me. Who is SO into starting agro that he doesn't even READ posts lately, but jumps at things that AREN'T actually written? Here's a clue... It's not me.
If we win tomorrow, we're four points off third place. But you go ahead and cheer for a Blackpool victory.
You're brilliant, you are. Really.

Great. Nevermind the performances on the pitch and the woefully conservative way we're set up for at least 80 minutes before any changes.
4 points off third after 7 games? Keep that point scoring rate up (9 from a possible 21) and we might even make 50 points this season and be only 25 points off third by the end of the season.
Yay!

Yep, nevermind the fact that we're a decent run from being right back in the frame for a European Cup spot again... Nevermind that.
Let's focus ONLY on the fact that our football is shite right now. Let's not consider ANY factors behind our poor start. Let's rule out ANY chance of anything even remotely positive ever happening to us again. Let's give up on any chance we may have with 32 games left in the season.
Let's all cheer for defeat, so that we can all be proven right.

Just to be clear, I'm not cheering for defeat so I can be proved right. Being critical of Roy Hodgson does not equate to wanting him to fail or my team to lose.
I'm simply reflecting on the start Hodgson has made to his tenure at Anfield. It's been pretty woeful with little encouragement for the future. We've been set up even more defensive than before, with little onus on attacking mentality. He's made no impact with substitutes despite games where it was clear he had to do something. His media soundbites have been along the lines of "we shouldn't expect more than a point against premiership teams". He's already playing players out of position with little justification for doing so. We have drawn against teams we should expect to be beating, have scraped one 1-0 win, and have been beaten out of sight by both Man City and Utd. We have 6 points after six games and are in the bottom three.
Regardless of the off-field stuff, we still have a fair few top (and I mean top) players in our squad, capable of much more than we're achieving at the moment. If we were set up with a more attacking mentality and freedom to express I'm sure we'd have amassed more than 6 points so far. As someone said on another thread, at least with previous managers (with the odd exception) however early results fared, one could get a sense of potential progress in the team. I'm struggling to think of one positive about Hodgson's start here and am completely bereft of hope for us under him. The negatives far outweigh the positives.
We're playing Blackpool today at Anfield. Is anyone on here totally confident that we'll beat them? Doesn't the question speak volumes about Hodgson's management up til now? You can talk about "going on a run" all you like and it remains a hope, but one that the present evidence suggests is unlikely.
