the people who are saying roy is doing the same things as rafa, what game are you actually watching? you could see the structure of our play and many times we completely controlled the opposition and the pace of the game and we definately dominated possesion especially at home. roy is doing the same as that? fucking bullshit.
Oh, sod off, Neil.

We often played this same, sit back, invite the oppostion onto us, counter-attacking football at home in the past two or three years under Rafa too.

Jesus, talk about revisionist history.

Actually don't think it's that bad an article.

At the end of the day, the poition we're in now means realistic replacements for Benitez are artin O'Neil, Alan Curbishly, Steve McLaren, Alex mcLeish & Roy Hodgson.

They'll do no better that Benitez with an uninterested Gerrard, injured Torres, disaffected Mascherano, despite the world class keeper.

Benitez has made many mistakes, and a change in manager may very well be warranted, but a change in manager alone is not necessarily going to bring about a reversal of fortune.
mistake? are you kidding me look at our squad and look at the results we've got. that's not a mistake its a fucking pathetic useless retarded manager. he deserves no sympathy, hero my fucking arse. he's a fool.

answer me this... how does our bank balance cause us to lose 20 games this season? it didn't. the moron of a manger, his dumb team selections and his cowardly tactics have.

Fair enough. You ARE consistent, I'll give you that! ;D

we dominated possession at home, that isn't revisionism, that's a fact.

we dominated possesion cos other teams thought we were liverpool, and kept their shape and crap like that against us. after the bullshit of last year, nothing has changed except the teams coming to anfield have figured out that we pose no threat at all when in possession. so they just grew some bollocks and decided to say "you know what lucas, fuck you, i'll have the ball, thank you, now fuck off".

(@ Neil) Whatever you say.

No doubt you have stats to back you up, but if we did, it was only because Lucas and the back four would knock it square and backwards ad naseum rather than push it forward for mcuh of these games.

Did we dominate posession against Birmingham last season? I don't think so. And we were shite, even if we did - We created almost nothing, and were saved a point only by a blatant dive. Or Man City at home? They bossed looooong periods of that game. Even some of our wins, like Wolves and Spurs, were lacking any kind of spark or creativity, despite our getting the desired result.

Let's not pretend, just 'cos we're playing terribly now, that things were so much better twelve months ago. 'Cos they weren't. Not by a long shot.

Budgie plays similar, defensive, cautious football to Benitez

Just less successfully, because he's not a very good manager

Probably, yes.

But forgive some of us for not "wanting us to lose", so that he gets the chop, eh?

grandpa never loses, he just readjusts his expectations. - well they're a good side and ordinarily we would have lost by 2.

jova can leave if he wants. at least we'll get a fee for him.

Agreed, although he is a little less power crazed.

this is good news hes a crap footballer, the last of Rafas annual horror free signing brigade

Not last season, Spide.

And it took Benitez a season or more to get us playing to his vision.

Remember the Pompey game? That was worse than ANYTHING I've seen this season.

Yeah, it's dead fucking useful comparing which manager presided over the worst game.

Brilliant stuff.

One won two La Liga titles, a UEFA cup and won us the biggest club trophy in the world, came second, won an FA cup.

The other is a useless old fucker who has lost two UEFA cup finals in a 30 year career of unrivalled mediocrity and came 12th in the Premiership last year.

I thought your posts reached a nadir recently with that abortion of a thread last week which was mercifully locked, but perhaps there is worse to come

Brendan you forgot ones chasing his 8th Premiere League away win and he's in his 4th Season trying for it, he got a magnificent ONE away win last season and was deemed 'good enough' for this club, and Mark is one who agreed.

Well I just hope we score more goals away from home than we did last year, we only managed 18 last year. Last year was shite with only 5 away wins, so I would expect more than that even with Budgie in charge.

Jesus, I didn't realise his record was that bad.

Jovanovic is actually, probably, our best option on the left.

Cole's fucking useless out there... at least Jova uses his left foot form time to time.

Cole in the centre flanked by Jova & Kuyt and they must be encouraged to use width.

Take a chance, play Gerrard & Mereiles behind them.

Cole has played most of his England and Chelsea career on the left, and is our best option there. Jova should be utilitzed upfront. Thats were he's best, he's a goalscorer.

and Cole has been shit on the left for England countless times.. it'e one of the reasons he's never been able to tie down a starting role. Gerrard has been played there more often of late... but we'd be fucking stupid to have him out there.

Cole in the centre or on the right. He comes inside too often and offers far too little width when he plays on the left... and when we play Merieles on the right, doing the same thing... that's when we get the "penis formation"

Exactly so, Hansern. The idea that Cole can play centrally is a bit of a myth, one perpetuated by the man himself.

Keep him on the left and he'll improve to a better standard.

Why not just blow the fuck out of the team coach? I'm sure we're insured and I could defo spend the money better than the umpteen carcasses would return.

because lucas would be the only surviving player, and we'd have to build a team around him

Embarassing? Me? Riiiiight...

Which one of the two of us is hoping we lose tomorrow? Here's a clue... It's not me. Who is SO into starting agro that he doesn't even READ posts lately, but jumps at things that AREN'T actually written? Here's a clue... It's not me.

If we win tomorrow, we're four points off third place. But you go ahead and cheer for a Blackpool victory.

You're brilliant, you are. Really.

The team are playing exactly the same as they did last year, just in a different formation. The seeds have been planted over the last 5 years and we are now reaping the rewards.
Last Year Europa League semi Final (would have been the final except for Yossi's perfectly good goal being dissalowed for offside)
2 years ago 2nd in the League
3 years ago Champions League semi final (beaten on away goals because of an unfortunate own goal at Chelsea)
4 years ago Champions League final
5 years ago FA Cup final which we won.
6 years ago Champions League which we won, and League Cup final which we lost.

If the next five years give us THAT as a minimum, with nice new owners and a stadium getting built, YES FUCKING PLEASE!
Don't forget the Super Cup, really musnt forget the Supercup.

Great. Nevermind the performances on the pitch and the woefully conservative way we're set up for at least 80 minutes before any changes.

4 points off third after 7 games? Keep that point scoring rate up (9 from a possible 21) and we might even make 50 points this season and be only 25 points off third by the end of the season.

Yay!
