Jovanovic hints at Reds exit
Serbian star frustrated at his lack of action
Last updated: 2nd October 2010

Liverpool new boy Milan Jovanovic has admitted he is considering leaving the club just two months into the season.

Jovanovic joined Liverpool on a free transfer from Standard Liege in the summer in a deal already agreed by former Reds boss Rafa Benitez.

However, the Serbian international has struggled to hold down a regular place in Roy Hodgson's side and he is not happy with the current situation.

"I am starting to find the time dragging on," Jovanovic is quoted as saying by The Lying Rag.

"I'm a fighter but if things do not sort themselves out I will change club - even though it is too soon to think about it yet.

"I'm on form, I'm working hard and I have started eight competitive games.

"But I've not been in the starting XI for the last few matches - and I've not even come on as a sub."

Struggle
Jovanovic admits he is missing his former club Standard Liege as he is struggling to adapt to the rigours of English football

He continued: "I have to adapt to a new system over here. I have to defend all the time.

"Just three or four teams in the Premier league play attractive football. The others set great store by commitment, discipline and defending.

"I miss Standard and the city of Liege."

There are just 3 or 4 big clubs that play attractive attacking football...... and I'm not at one of them

the truth is the attacking players are made to look worse than they do because of lack of support from deep and the amount of defensive duty they are bogged down with.

Roy should start treating the bench with a bit more respect. Not using players in the bench for the majority of the game is not acceptable. In at least a few of his games he has not used all his available subs. When he does use them, he uses them for about 10 mins in a game.

At a club like Liverpool, we are always bound to have international players who represent their country in the team. They expect to get minutes are a chance to prove what they are capable. Not everyone is happy to just pick up the cheque for training three times a week....some players do care.

You don't play them just for the sake of it. I mean right now that wouldn't be the case, but Jova is an average player in this league and he leaves no-one will notice or care.

he's an attacking player in a defensive team, we have no idea of how good he can be.

What a fucking cunt. Piss off back to obscurity in Belgium ASAP. Thanx.
I really don't get the "oooh...he has said something about the club, how dare he?" type of posts in here. For all we know he said, hw would like to play more or the press asked directed questions to twist what he says. Same thing happened with Agger just recently...

I will cut him some slack here, the manager does not have a clue about how to use him (or anyone else for that matter).....its the truth.

"I'm on form, I'm working hard and I have started eight competitive games."

What form? He's looked about as skilful and intelligent with the ball as Emile Heskey on a bad day.

Twat.

Well we do have a concept of the parameters, given that he was 29 on a free from a shit league and no one had ever heard about him. The limit of my expectations was 'he might be ok'

He can of course still prove us wrong but I seriously had my doubts about him even after watching his one good performance at the World Cup.

The standard of the Belgium League was my main area of concern - not if he had been 20-year-old up and coming talent of course as it's then as good as a lot of other decent leagues like the Dutch, the Danish, The Greek and so forth - but at almost 30 I've had seriously doubts ever since we were first linked. He's never been playing at highest level before and the leap could well prove to big at this age.

Those comments doesn't help with regards to my belief in him making the grade of course. I'm affraid he's hitting above his weight and we've once again wasted salary on a Voronin-like signing.

Nobody comes out of this with credit IMO. I don't like the new fashion for players to spill their guts in the media, but I agree with the criticisms of Roy's excessive conservatism. The Trabzonspor home game showed what they can do if he slips their leash and lets them play. It isn't as if we have much to lose at the moment.

The fact that some wastecunt from a shit league now thinks he's too good for us is one issue, but that's a matter for his ego and our results. Either way he can fuck off.

We should try him up front at some point. Be it alone or with Fernando.
Good call. Whatever else he does or doesn't have in his locker, he's a big powerful fecker and relishes the physical stuff.

And another thing... He says that we play shit football like it's a surprise. He clearly didn't have a TV in Liege. If you're going to moan about that, you arrogant plodding shitbox, it just shows you did even less research than us.

He's just not good enough to moan about not being in the team. We *are* playing shit football, but that's partly because most of our 'creative' players are uncreative plodders like this twat.

I remember reading he had a bad attitude beforehand, so this is no great surprise. I thought he might have waited till December though.

Lucas has had most apperances this season

I'm not inclined to jump all over him, As usual it's probably been manipulated and taken out of context my the papers , I am amazed knowing the English press as we do we set so much store in the shite therein.
However it seems to me he has had a fair crack of the whip at a time when the manager is trying to look at as many players and options that he can.
As for everyone's issues including Jovo's about us being a defensive team the foundations of our success were built on defence and I have no issues with that, as longs as it's done well. I don't care how we get the points as long as we get them.
Jovo is not that thick not to know that everyone is expected to track back and do a bit, even in the most attractive PL teams.

regards

Not reading too much into this, as Vlad said, a lot of "misquotes" lately.

"The Lying Rag rises early in the morning, The Lying Rag rises early in the morning spreading lots of shite all around".

What defensive duty? I'm sick of hearing this same shit being churned out, we're not playing defensively, we're just playing shite, plain and simple. Was it defensive football that saw him take a swipe at a shot which could have put us ahead against Arsenal? Is it defensive football that sees the likes of Babel play garbage and have no impression on a game against Northampton? They're just not good enough Neil, and even some of the better players are playing below themselves. You make it sound like we've parked the team bus in every game.

we're a defensive team that commits few people to the attack, hardly anyone is n the box when someone crosses, little creativity through the middle and fullbacks that spend more time in our half than the opposition. look at torres, how many times has he been played in on goal one on one with the keeper. you want to say the players aren't good enough, that's fair enough but they (the players) are playing in an environment that does little to showcase their attacking talent.

We have had games where our first shot on target has been in the second half.

We have had games AT ANFIELD where the oppo has had more possesion and shots than us.

I know we ain't playing today but if ANY of the mighty 'W's' win Wolves Wigan or West Ham, or if the Everton current bottom team wins, we will occupy a fucking relegation spot, I don't know if any of them are playing each other, but we could be in bottom place if they all win.

Just be consistant, you slagged off Rafa enough times, and this pricks 100 times worse than Rafa at his fucking worst!

I doubt Mark was slagging off Rafa after a few months in the job.

As for the 'prick' comment.. classy.
