BTW...

What does this say about the chances of Benitez being sacked if he's allowed to spend 3M odd on some kid?

Of course Houllier was moved on after 14M was waxed on Cisse, etc etc. But the signs that Rafa's going to get another season are pretty strong in my opinion.
It certainly looks that way.

Isn't that now 3 signings he's made in the last few months?

I heard Rafa gone in 11 and a half days (around dinner time) after the season finished.

That's more in line with my sources.

Was it not The King who wanted this lad?
So Kenny's buying players that Benitez doesn't want, now that Parry's gone.

Hahahaha. Oh. You're serious.

Its a strange situation if the Yanks stay another year I think Rafa will definately be here, but I also think it depends on a new owner, some owners might not want to rock the boat straight away which sacking him would do, and others would want to start from the ground up, new owner new manager.

He wants to go to Juve.

He's going, and I wish him good luck. I hope we can find someone better.

Benitez wants to stay here, and if he feels that he is going to get the backing of any prospective new owner, he will.

If we are still mired in uncertainty, then I think he will go.

It's a question of timing.

LFC sign England youth ace

Charlton Athletic's England youth international Jonjo Shelvey will join Liverpool on May 10.

The 18-year-old has passed a medical and agreed personal terms after the two clubs yesterday agreed a fee. Liverpool will pay an initial £1.7m with further potential payments depending on domestic and international appearances.

Shelvey became Charlton's youngest player when he made his first-team debut against Barnsley at Oakwell in April 2008 at the age of just 16 years and 59 days. He is also the club's youngest FA Cup and league goalscorer.

He has made 48 appearances and scored eight goals for The Addicks and is an established England U17 international.

Liverpool's Managing Director Christian Purslow said: "Jonjo is an exciting young England international. His signing is part of our long-term strategic recruitment plan and we all look forward to welcoming him to Melwood."

The two clubs are also in talks to develop a strategic partnership involving the development of players in both directions as a result of the transfer.

Charlton Athletic plc chairman Richard Murray said: "It is with the greatest reluctance that we have accepted an offer for Jonjo from Liverpool.

"No club likes to lose such a talented prospect, but the overall package is one we couldn't refuse, and one which was very attarctive to Jonjo.

"Liverpool are going to develop him over the next few years to be a top player, and I can't think of a better place for him to go to."

The guy who sets those questions is an embarrassment.

So is this lad destined to be the best player in the history of football?

Er, he's a good prospect I suppose...

That's a Yes then. And is he the best thing to come out of Charlton since the 'wheelies'

That was Chorlton I believe....

etc. etc.
