Yeah except when it comes to Luis Suarez, when every fucking man (white and black) and his dog intentionally decided to make racism about the words you say, and not about everything digger has just explained. So if you want to have this discussion and debate now, go fuck yourself. As far as I'm concerned, if there is no evidence of those scumbags making reference to Raheem's colour, then that's the end of it. Case closed. Shut your bum holes and move on.

Yeah I just watched that and was going to post - He's absolutely bang on as well. He's very articulate and seemingly a very smart guy. Plus of course he's fucking 'Digger' which by proxy means he's fucking super cool and awesome.

The man knows what he's talking about. He should be our club's leading ambassador now Kenny's getting on a bit. Any time I hear him talk to any issue he speaks with assurance.

What a blessed contrast to that buffoon Adrian Durham - whose atrociously incoherent rant about racism I had the misfortune to hear today on TalkSport, waffling on about how Sterling gets racist abuse because he left clubs acrimoniously, whereas Rashford doesn't because he hasn't moved and therefore doesn't fit 'the white man's agenda' (nope, me neither), and how 'brown-coloured people' (yes, that's what racism is all and only about) get abused by 'the white man in denial' such as with the 'racist' calling of Lukaku 'lazy'. On and on it went. The man is seriously stupid and yet deeply proud of himself.

When you actually watch the clip, which I pointed out to a mate as it transpired on live tv, there is a black guy smack in the middle of those guys that are being accused.. he doesn’t flinch, once!

My heart broke when I saw him organising the five aside at the Tory party conference, but he's boss on that clip

Everyone's going on about that - or how Sterling doesn't even seem troubled by what was said to him.
Who knows - but Sterling's point was valid. The media - worldwide - spins things a certain way and forces dictates points of view, whether we're aware of it or not.
Barnes comes off very well in this interview, and it's not the first time I've heard him talk about the subject and felt that the guy presents his opinions pragmatically, effectively, positively and from genuine desire to see positive change.

The black dude in the middle of it all speaks:

"Raheem Sterling was getting a lot of abuse from all sections. However, I have to be honest and say I didn't hear actually any racial abuse whatsoever," Lewis told Good Morning Britain.

"A lot of people have been questioning me and my integrity as to why I didn't get involved, why I didn't react. But I didn't actually hear anything racial from any section of the crowd, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

"We all knew it was on TV because the camera was in front of us.

"I think it's disgusting. I'm right there, three feet away from him. He's got no regard from me, Sterling either. To see that happen on TV just a few feet away from me is quite scary."

... So he didn't hear anything

And yet, a couple of blokes get banned for racial abuse, which probably most likely didn't happen.

It's not that simple. It's not rare to not pick individual words out when everyone is shouting, especially if they're in front of you shouting away from you while people next to you and behind you are shouting down your ears. But then I think it would be difficult to prove either way.

You don't have to be a qualified lip reader to figure what was shouted at sterling

I am not excusing the scumbags mate, but there is a massive media agenda as you are aware. And by all means, please translate what you read because all i saw was what most saw, and that was disgusting abuse targeting a footballer.... which happens every week .

Yeah I hear ya.
Well it's clear to me ol bricktop says you 'fackin black cunt'

Re media Agenda.. I'm OK with media agendas that call out abusive racism rather than a media agenda that aims to make it worse.

Thats a wider question re what's acceptable and what isn't.
Calling Bale a jug eared cunt or asking crouch if he's run away from the circus might be a red line for some.
Calling players black cunts and chucking bananas might be beyond what most deem acceptable.

According to one supporter, who had his son's season ticket (and was hurling non-racist abuse himself), the man mouthing what looks to be racist abuse, regularly shouts racist comments.
"The season ticket belongs to my son, and he said: ‘One of the guys is regularly shouting racist abuse.’
“So I said: ‘Why don’t you say anything?’ He said: ‘Dad, I’ve got to sit with them. If anything comes back, I’ve got to put up with it."

It most probably did happen.

Gary has got it spot on in terms of the hero worship bit from 11 mins onwards - and when he talks about Ashly Cole's treatment in his time.

But there is another side to this in terms of the hero worship - speaking personally, I think people like to identify with people like them in both culture and race, so I get why the media will hype up the likes of Harry Kane above everyone else, much like they did with Alan Shearer back in the day. I think it's a hard ask to actually break that kind of a barrier - but sometimes it works in other sports - like Athletics, and Boxing. With regards to hero worship - I can only really think of one white player that I just fucking adored more than anyone - and that was Steven Gerrard.

I don't disagree, and as mentioned its chelsea so yeah.. but some people are talking about sticking microphones all around the grounds so it can be heard. Nah! Sterling's a bell but he handled it well.
It won't go away, sadly

Some are saying that he said "Manc cunt".
I don't know what to believe, but I still don't get the hatred and the abuse even if it's not racist.
Really don't get how some people work, I mean why scream a bunch of shit at players? I get banter, but this is far from it.

Be nice if you added something else to your titles ! You seem to be developing a habit of starting a thread with just a player's name .. and it scares the shit out of me whenever I see it!

Gomez : I assumed out for season or complete injury breakdown
Barnes : thought he'd died.

Fucking hell Tom.

Its the fear of being ridiculed for trying an amusing title & failing badly.

Next time the thread will be called "tombrown" and you'll be dancing on my virtual grave, before you realise its just an update on my bowel movement routine

It's depressing how many pundits can't seem to move beyond Sterling on this topic. It's like watching a fly repeatedly bounce off a window. Some footballers, whatever their race, just irritate some fans. He's managed by people who are continually trying to engineer his image, and usually make it worse. Yes, he gets jeered because of how he left LFC, and he deserves it, and it's nothing to do with racism. Yes, they chant that he runs like a girl, because he certainly does have one of the weirdest running styles ever, and fans seize on such things, and again it's not racist. Yes, his poor finishing has in the past been slammed, because it was indeed exasperating until recently, and again there's nothing racist about that. Like any black player, he's also likely to attract racist abuse, but by trying to blend that in with everything else that's negative about his particular treatment, pundits are making the serious analysis of the phenomenon less effective and impressive.

The only reason the fake news pundits are in a panic is because their convenient NPC definition of racism has just been called out as the childish virtue signalling bullshit that it is. Of course they're going to profusely nod their head to everything for the next couple of weeks until the truth of racism blows over, the way primary school kids do when they haven't read the assignment they were supposed to.

I wonder what John would make of the situation in South Africa today and Zimbabwe earlier where the racial situation has reversed?

Racism or the perception thereof seems to be a reaction to the dominance of one race in a power structure. Just as 'white dominated' countries are perceived by minorities as unequal so it goes in, say, the above countries or China for example where racial stereotyping and epithets are common.

I'm not sure it's entirely a colour issue.

The Daily Mail has the scoop, not surprising :
The Chelsea fan accused of calling Raheem Sterling a 'f***ing black c***' has been named today and admitted: 'I’m deeply ashamed by my own behaviour'.
Colin Wing, 60, was caught on camera screaming insults at the Manchester City player in a Premier League match at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Mr Wing, from Beckenham, south-east London, says that he has lost his job and his season ticket at Chelsea, after 50 years watching the club, adding: 'Everybody’s got what they wanted'.

But he insists that he called Mr Sterling a 'Manc c***' not a 'black c***', although the England star is understood to have told police he heard racist language.

Mr Wing said: ‘I’m deeply ashamed by my own behaviour and I feel really bad. But I didn’t call him a black c***, I called him a Manc c***.

‘I’ve been going to Chelsea for 50 years now and, because of where I sit, I’m picked up on the camera most weeks. If I had a history of saying this sort of thing I would’ve been caught by now'.

Maybe Atlas can sort it out for us all with his ‘lip reading’ qualities! If a guy has lost his job by calling that little rat a ‘manc Cunt’, then we have a problem.

'Manc c***' is actually much harder to say than the other one, even though it's far more tempting to try to say it. It's the 'nc' sound followed by another 'c' sound. You need to say it calmly and deliberately to enunciate it clearly. Shouting it is much harder to do. You'd probably have to pronounce 'manc' as 'man-cuh' then take a brief pause before rolling on with the c-word. Otherwise people around you might well assume you just shouted, 'Mancunt,' which sounds more like a gay euphemism for anus.
