Just finished reading an amazing, long and very sweary book by Bruce Robinson (director of "Withnail and I") called "They All Love Jack" which took a dozen years to write and which nails the mystery once and for all AFAIC. Won't say more at this stage in case others want to read it first, but I thought I'd give this its own thread rather than include it in the "Books [etc.]" forum in case there's a long discussion.
