Some quotes from Klopp on Milners contract situation.

Klopp said: “There are talks (with Milner), but usually we don’t comment about that.“There is no reason for it, but I am in talks, the club is in talks with Milly, so we will see.

“There is no chance Milly will retire next year so he is desperate to play on.

Jurgen Klopp will be delighted to keep Milner for another year(PA)
“I understand it, to be honest, because life after career, when you are lucky enough to stay healthy, is much longer than your career."

Im genuinely surprised we are looking at extending his deal, which Klopp has all but confirmed the club intends to do it seems a logical point to let him go with our aging midfield in need of fresh blood .

What do you think, does Milner have another year in him at this level or is this Klopps famed over loyalty showing up. Is he a player we will use or is he now just standing in the way of younger players and taking up space on the wage bill?

If it’s a transition to coaching on reduced terms I’m game. He’s a great influence around the squad by all accounts. I’d hope he’s sensible enough to realise he’ll only be getting a few minutes here and there.

Plus, it one less irritation with non foreign players slots within the squad.

Yeah, I can't imagine he's getting a pay bump. He's definitely a great influence, even having people like him on the training pitch means that whoever he's playing against is gonna need to train at 100%.

There has been listed several reasons for why this is a good move in another thread. But the fact that we’ll most likely see a bit of a midfield reshuffle and keeping on the one who sets the standard every day is a good thing.

He's a boss personality to have around the first team squad and however his playing time may well deminish having a milner about , especially in a post-Klopp transition would be an asset

Also depends how much he is asking for. £40-60k I think it's fair

I think he can really help to bring through Eliott, Carvalho, Jones etc and he's great to play in games when we are resting players cos we can rely on him as a leader

I'd rather he was some hybrid version of a player-coach than a player. Yes his professionalism is great, but will he still expect playing time? He's looked off the pace all season to me.

I would be diverting all Milners wages to Salah and releasing him.

Unless of course there's room in the coaching set up to coach the kids, then he could follow a path similar to Gerrard.

Not if you're use to £160k/week. Milner should take this year to shadow Klopp more.
And next year become a coach of a championship squad

Well… the Everton job should be up again by next season.

We've already kinda signed Henderson up to a semi-cheerleader role.

I don't want to lose Milner for all the reasons already stated. It'd be great to be able to keep him around the club after he retired as well.

If his wages and squad spot are not hindering us in other areas then sign him up... if they are then I kinda have to question the logic of this.
