Im genuinely surprised we are looking at extending his deal, which Klopp has all but confirmed the club intends to do it seems a logical point to let him go with our aging midfield in need of fresh blood .

What do you think, does Milner have another year in him at this level or is this Klopps famed over loyalty showing up. Is he a player we will use or is he now just standing in the way of younger players and taking up space on the wage bill?

If it’s a transition to coaching on reduced terms I’m game. He’s a great influence around the squad by all accounts. I’d hope he’s sensible enough to realise he’ll only be getting a few minutes here and there.

Yeah, I can't imagine he's getting a pay bump. He's definitely a great influence, even having people like him on the training pitch means that whoever he's playing against is gonna need to train at 100%.

I think he can really help to bring through Eliott, Carvalho, Jones etc and he's great to play in games when we are resting players cos we can rely on him as a leader

I'd rather he was some hybrid version of a player-coach than a player. Yes his professionalism is great, but will he still expect playing time? He's looked off the pace all season to me.

Unless of course there's room in the coaching set up to coach the kids, then he could follow a path similar to Gerrard.

Well… the Everton job should be up again by next season.

We've already kinda signed Henderson up to a semi-cheerleader role.

I don't want to lose Milner for all the reasons already stated. It'd be great to be able to keep him around the club after he retired as well.

If his wages and squad spot are not hindering us in other areas then sign him up... if they are then I kinda have to question the logic of this.
