"It's complicated"? -- No it isn't, fuck off Barca - £113 Million bid rejected

It seems a remarkable coincidence that it comes hours after the club statement though.

Either the request triggered the statement, or the statement triggered the request?

The echo comments about him trying to force a move through other means is odd though.

I'm wondering if he's gone from saying he's unfit to play, to saying he won't play cos he's too unsettled.

The club, thoroughly pissed off tells Barca to piss off using that statement.

His agent then puts the transfer request story out to SSN to show how unsettled he is, cos let's face it, he wouldn't say Phil is refusing to play.
I suppose theres no smoke without fire , im just dubious that its coutinho causing any of the fire .

I also dont think klopp talks the way he does today if this has any legs to it what so ever.

Its Agent BS.

The message, supposedly from a member of Coutinho's 'family,' is a bit rum. The reference to Gerrard is odd enough, and I very much doubt any of them uses a phrase like 'to no avail,' and I also doubt they sought out some English friend to re-write the statement for them. So it's either made up or else has been drafted by the agent's team to be used as and when.

Despite the amount of money from the Neymar deal, will Barca be able to sign both Dembele and Coutinho in the same transfer window. Seem like it's one or the other and neither wants to miss the chance to move there which probably explains the movements from both players' camp.

I'm almost excited to see how Klopp reacts. This is a real test and I wonder how he'll respond - volcanic or laid back? Could go either way.

The backlash from fans if the club relents to Coutinho's wishes would be interesting. Especially after the statement they made and the lack of incoming transfers this summer. Fans couldn't give a shite about bidding for players you couldn't manage to prise away from their current clubs, they only want to see their team improved.

Was our press release just a way of forcing his hand and trying to get a better price? Turn everyone against Coutinho and make it look like we did all the right things?

The request will no doubt come officially soon.
Which will no doubt be sanctioned by the board now as they won't be seen as being villains to quite the same degree they would have been had they sold him without an official request.
Well, on the upside, he would have gone next season anyway. Barca are cash rich thanks to PSG which means, unless we're utterly incompetent, we will get a whooping fee for him and in cash. Which means we have more chance of landing some top targets as we will of course then be able to offer full cash payment for players (or at least a large percentage) rather than doing the drip feed payments we and most clubs usually try to negotiate.
He's gone folks.

At the very least we've probably lost Coutinho for the next month, how big an impact on our season will this have?

Yep. I can't see Klopp staying and FSG would then see the value of the club decline more than they would make off of any sale.
