to see Poulsen and Lucas continually get chosen ahead of Jonjo Shelvey. I've been crying myself hoarse about Shelvey needs to be in first team consideration. He's EASILY the third best CM at the club after Gerrard and Meireles.

He needs to play, simple fucking as. He's not just any other kid FFS. He's had 50+ first team games for Charlton. He's a big, well-built fucker and ready for the PL. And he's certainly got the ability.

Throw him in there for fuck's sake Roy. I can't see any fucking logic in him not being ready. I can understand him being conservative about someone like Suso who might not be physically ready. But this fella needs to play. Similar players like Milner, Rodwell, Fabregas etc. were all in first team contention when they were 18 and it certainly didn't do them any harm.
 
I'm would imagine that Roy has been asked to avoid giving the lad a start because it will trigger an additional payment to Charlton of more than 1M.
 
That's a good point, Wilko..but given that we paid Juve 4.5 million for Poulsen, perhaps it's a bit penny wise pound foolish.
 
This whole Shelvey thing reminds me a bit of the championing of Insua.

I hope Shelvey doesn't turn out to be as shite as him.

He certainly can't do any worse than Crapsen or the Invisible Cunt

If this is true than thats totally stupid. If he offers more than those 2 and can help us win games it would be 1M well spent.
 
I thought woy was the man to release them into games where Lucarse & Poulsen never work but obviously he's too chicken to do so.. *shakes head*

he is right. Absolutely worst case scenario is that he dont do much better.
 
after paying more attention to the reserves, I think we have the most talent youngsters for about a decade but that said the step up from the reserves and first team football is huge.
 
I agree with Wilko. We just can't afford the £1M payment at the minute, not unless it's absolutely neccessary.

Take a look at when we sold Dossena, Voronin and then Yossi.

They all correlated for when the repayments were due for Aquilani, which underlines the fact we've got fuck all.

After we received £21M for Mascherano, and Purslow probably assigned the rest to pay for their contracts, you know what he's like.

I would like to see Shelvey start more games. He's got a good touch and clearly a football brain on his shoulders, which is more than can be said of the clones in the middle.
 
I have a feeling that Hodgson didnt expect Shelvey to be ready, which was why he felt he had to get an experienced DM.

Unfortunately he didnt expect Poulsen to be so shit.

FWIW, we dont know if Shelvey IS ready.. we're just desperate to not see Lucas and Poulsen in the same team.

They're a bit like the Wondertwins from Superfriends.

Dogshit when separate, but even more annoying dogshit when they combine their powers to become a giant spatula.

I'd rather try someone who might not work out at a useful position for us, than continue to play two known commodities in a useless formation.
