Is Wenger on his way out of Arsenal ?

I hope Wenger does go to Madrid - it'll be fascinating to see if he can succeed there, and also to see how Arsenal cope without him.

It would be a very very interesting move for Wenger. I just wonder if it materializes, who Arsenal will replace him with (Ranieri!!!!) and how most of the players who he 'raised' will react.

Would Cesc follow him to Real? He's a Catalan, isn't he, so that might be tricky.

God knows who Arsenal would get to replace him. Moyes, maybe? That would be interesting too.

Whoever Arsenal bring in is going to want to spend so much more than Wenger, and the fans will almost demand it. Their long term strategy required patience and assumed Wenger would get it. With Wenger off, they will have to be more risky while they pay off the stadium.

Shut up Ballague

Arsene Wenger has said he will reject the advances of Real Madrid and stay at Arsenal, insisting his future is "not an issue".

The Frenchman has reportedly been approached by Madrid presidential candidate Florentino Perez about becoming manager of the Spanish giants should he get elected to the post.

But he told the Daily Mail: "There's nothing to worry about, it's not an issue for me. I'm staying here. If that changes I will let you know, but don't worry about that. It's not an issue."

The initial news had arrived on the back of some disquiet among Gunners fans about Wenger's management after the north Londoners endured a fourth straight season without winning a trophy.

Wenger was last week involved in a heated exchange at a meeting of shareholders, who accused his youngsters of lacking backbone while defender Mikael Silvestre was branded "geriatric".

Chairman Peter Hill-Wood described those comments as "out of order" adding also he expected Wenger to at least see out his current contract, which expires in 2011.

And Wenger has now backed those comments, despite also describing Real's advances as "strongly interesting".

It doesn't mean Ballaque is wrong, he just said they were in discussions. And just one sentence :

But he told the Daily Mail: "There's nothing to worry about, it's not an issue for me. I'm staying here. If that changes I will let you know, but don't worry about that. It's not an issue."

is hardly an outright denial - especially the ' If that changes I will let you know ' bit. He's covered his bases is all.

As usual, negotiating positions are being adopted. Wenger is letting it be known that he has opportunities to go to clubs that would provide him with a more generous transfer budget. It's probably only an attempt to put pressure on the Arsenal board to cough up more money.

Ballague, more often than not, talks sh1t. I've no idea how he's got such a good reputation

BBC Understand Wengers confirmed he's staying put

He has that rep because once upon a time he often got things right. Judging by his more recent efforts, though, his sources must have dried up somewhat.
