I'll never forget the atmosphere and the chill that went down my spine when I heard YNWA being roared from the kop for the very first time. I didn’t get to see much of the city or experience the people/nightlife on that occasion, although we did walk into a bar and immediately got wound up by two lads that it was a "blue" bar and we should leave before there was trouble. Needless to say we ended up talking to them for ages and having a few pints with them. If I remember correctly one of them was originally from Ulster somewhere and had lived there for the last 20 years or something. Having been over there numerous times since I can understand why he stayed. I've never had a bad time in Liverpool. Visiting there has given me a deeper passion for the club. I'll freely admit that I only started supporting them because all my mates did when I was younger, but I don’t think that makes me any less of a fan anyway.

I don't know a single Everton supporter in the flesh but I still get excited for the derby because I know it's an important game for the club. You can feel the locals on the board get more excited and the players are more intense in interviews.
When I became a Liverpool fan, I took it upon myself to learn all about the club, its heritage and the city. On that basis, I totally understand the rivalry with Everton. In fact having a few rabid bitters at my work helps even more.
