20 mins left.

Come on Ukraine !
Yeah, it'll be a devastating blow for England if we lose this one.
It doesn't matter how meaningful a game is B-man, once England lose it's a great game.

Agger was playing extremely well last night, alongside former Liverpool target in 20-year-old Simon Kjær, keeping Zlatan and his fellow Swedes mostly quiet for the entire match.

He played the full 90 minutes and though he took a few kicks here and there he came out unscathed it seemed.

I can't see him play a full 90 minutes against Hungary come Wednesday with Denmark already beeing qualified, so he should be ready for Sunderland if called upon.

On a sidenote it looks like Skrtl has qualified for the WC as well with Slovakia. That's brilliant news for him and our team.

Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtl, Insua, Riera, Kuyt, Masher, Gerrard, Babel, Torres, Lucas ( ? )... anyone else? Voronin could make it through the qualifiers I reckon. Is Dossena still in the Italian-squad?

Not quite.....yet. Difficult away game to Poland which they need to win. While Slovenia have the groups whipping boys.

Anybody know why Ireland were pressing for a third goal in injury time, whilst already 2-1 up against the the defending world champions, thus allowing them the opportunity to hit us on the break yesterday?

Lack of onfield leadership?

For anyone interested - Yossi had an ok game for Israel in their 3-1 win. Unless a miracle happens on Wednesday, they're out - and it's sad considering how piss poor our group was.

Ireland.

Bah humbug.

Look, we lost our chance at automatic qualification earlier in the Group stages when Zinedine Kilbane was doing his best to break the 'Most amount of monumental fuck-ups in one qualifying phase' routine, so Saturday's late equaliser from that ballroot Gilardino wasn't the end of the World, but by fuck it hurt. How thoroughly pleasing it would have been to have beaten the World Champions, something Trap would have richly deserved.

You can only piss with the cock you've got, and for that alone Trap's done a remarkable job taking our bunch of shite to within a whisker of the World Cup.

There's a serious lack of leadership and experience in the side, especially across midfield. What was Lawrence doing pushing forward with a minute to go? Hold your position in midfield, and he'd have cut out the ball which released Pepe for their equaliser.

What a jammy cunt Gilardino is too? Dirty bobbly, ugly cunt of a goal, and he has the temerity to celebrate like he's won Miss World. Do it when it counts, against a nation that are actually any good Alberto, you fucking drippy bellend.

Anyway, onwards to the the FIFA-elected qualifiers through rankings. Balls.

And off-field leadership?

What's Italian for "just tell them that for the next 5 minutes, we put 11 men behind the ball and hoof it into the Canal everytime we get it"?

Ireland likely to play one of:

Russia, France, Greece or Portugal on 14 and 18 November. Utter fucking gay. If I could bumrape you Blatter, I would.

My understanding is that the play-offs will be determined by overall world rankings, rather then 'best' 2nd place team (points-wise) Vs 8th best 2nd place team.

Ergo, if it ends as it is tonight, we'd play Portugal.

Thanks Sepp.

As far as I know the eight second placed teams with the highest points tally from the group stages go into the qualifiers. There will then be a draw with the four highest rated teams acording to their world ranking in one pot pitted against the other four in the second one.

Do you not think Russia, France or Portugal would be a tough game for England?

In order I would choose to play; Greece, France, Portugal, Russia.

The only team I really don't want is Russia - I think we have a decent chance against France or Portugal and I would seriously fancy us against Greece although as Ryan says we are really not a particularly good team.

I presume he meant that they are decent sides and if England were playing them would you not be fearful of them?

I think they are tough games for any team. Portugal, Russia and France are top teams with attacking players that can hurt the best of defences.

What ILD said.

We need just 1 point against Israel and we're through.
Considering how we started that campaign, its a little miracle.
Lets finish the job now.

I'll be honest, if we play like we have a campaign, you should be nailed on for 1 point. The 'spirit' fo this team has been terrible - I'll be very very surprised if Switzerland don't win this game.
